What is the latest with Northwest Airlines?

  • #2
I am watching them closely. I travel frequently and have multiple bookings with them. I hope I get home this week and next!

So far the FA have tentatively reached an agreement. Sounds like this is good news. The pilots union have voted to strike. The had not come to an agreement as of last night. I believe the judge gave them an additional extension of 24 hours. The last extension took them to close of buisness March 1. So I imagine something will happen today.

I have followed them on Flyertalk forums. Lots of good info on that board also.

    I hope it resolves quickly.

Jd2601 has the same info that I've found. I really hope the pilots & NW reach an agreement. I live in Detroit, which is a NW hub, and options for flying other airlines are really quite limited. I was able to book Spirit for a trip to NYC next week, though.

It's a shame, the state the United States airlines industry is in.

Whatever happened to the mechanics that were on strike this past fall. I lost track of that situation.

I was on a couple of NW flights yesterday, one international and one domestic. From the FA's I talked to, it is far from certain that the FA's will approve the agreement that their negotiators appproved.

The mechanics never had a chance in their strike. Management had their ducks in a row, and broke that union.

The pilots are the tough nut, both at NW and at DL. It is touch and go whether those contracts will get worked out. I hope so as I have half a million ff miles between the two airlines. A pilots strike would probably kill either of them.

NW and its pilots have now agreed to a tentative deal, which will be submitted to the union members for a vote. Things are looking up for NW and those of us who fly the Red Tail!
