  • South African Safari

Angela's post got some great vacation suggestions, including the idea of a South African safari. I'm actually thinking about this for next year. I don't want to hijack her post, so I will start this one by asking whether any of you folks have done a S. African safari, or investigated the possibility. I am not restricted to S. Africa, but I have heard the game viewing there is great, and it is relatively easy to get flights, etc.

    South Africa Safari

I have never been to S/A but have owned one at Dikhololo for 10 years now and I have spoke to numerous people who have actually used their S/A ownership at the resort instead of just exchanging and they all loved it and are wanting to go back......

Just returned from S.Africa safari with a trip up to Zambia to see Victoria Falls. I highly recommend. I would need my own website to describe but would be pleased to respond to all questions either on the board or by way of PM. The trip was one of the best I have ever taken and is unforgettable.

Do you have any pics, or highlights from your trip that you could share with us? It sounds wonderful, and I'm sure that many would be interested.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Stayed at resorts and hotel, no timeshares (altho I do own at Durban Sands). Because I realized this was a once in a lifetime, I went high-end. Trip was to Cape Town, then private reserve outside of Kruger and the Victoria Falls, total of 12 days.

Not good at uploading photos but will try my best. Is there a way to link you to snapfish or is that on an individual basis?

I believe when you go to snapfish, there is an option to 'share' and u can post the link here if it is okay with you....or.....you could just 'select' 20-25 pictures and 'copy' them to a new snapfish album and make that one 'public'.....

You can also use Picasa or other sites as well. I find Picasa easier to use.

                  Cheers

                            chs225,

Thanks so much for the great pics!!!!! Sheesh, certainly makes Disney's Animal Kingdom look a little pathetic.

Was that a monkey in the road, next to that car? Where you on a tour when you took all those pics of the animals?

Love the rainbow, sunset, and waterfall. What a great trip this must be.

That is a baboon next to the car. We were on our way to Cape Good Hope and about 20 baboons ran down the road towards us. If they get in the car they will tear it apart so we had to lock the doors (they can open a car) and wait for an opportunity to drive around them. There were ostriches across the street and they harassed them as well.

Not on a tour but on a game run. In an open land rover that had a total of three couples with a guide (who also drove) and a tracker. Went on a run every day at 5:30am and 4:00pm for about 3-4 hours. The lodge u stay at usually provides the game run as part of ur stay. We sayed at a private game reserve which was next to Kruger.

If you want to see an incredible clip (nothing to do with my trip) go to youtube and type in Battle at Kruger. While the clip is extraordinary, we did see lions attack cape buffalo and followed behind them. In our case, the buffalo escaped the attack (the pictures of the male lions were before and after the attack)
