Where would you go in late October?

in the midwest, peak color is usually the second or third week of October. By November, the leaves are mostly gone. I love seeing the hills of southern Indiana and Illinois during leaf season.

October is a favorite time of year for me in my own home town of NYC as well as a delightful time to visit my step-dad in Southern California.

Might consider more desert locations as well. Phoenix/Scottsdale/Tucson.

Great time for Smoky Mountains. Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, mountains of NC.

DW & I go to New Bern, NC the first week in Nov every year. Pretty relaxed vacation that time of year. Two golf courses very close to the resorts. Sleepy little town. Weather's usually cool but little rain.

We love Florida in late October. Ocean water may or may not be warm enough for swimming, but it is after families have been there (summer) and before snow birds start arriving.

In SE Florida, the ocean temperature is plenty warm enough for swimming. We lived in the Fort Lauderdale area for 8 years and have since visited many times in October and November. I always went swimming at that time of the year and I don't like cold water.

Williamsburg, Hilton Head, Phoenix and any place with changing leaves like Gatlinburg.
