Do you need to have your name on your tickets exactly the same as it appears on your passport?

My middle name is on my passport and I have never put it on an airline ticket, domestic or international. I've never had trouble.

I believe your first and last name have to be the same. If there is an initial on the ticket, it had better be the same as well. No nicknames, maiden names, etc or there will be trouble.

I'm in Switzerland on a business trip. My boss made my travel arrangements and didn't use my middle initial, although it is on my passport. No problem at alll.
