It's true, I just checked united.com. Good thing I already booked all of dd's flights back and forth to school as any tickets purchased prior to today are exempt from the $15.00 charge.

Is that carryon as well as checked? Does it include elites? Does it include international?

Legacies are behaving more LCC's all the time. United Airlines, meet Ryanair!

I'm sure all the rules are on their website.

This is one of the airlines I am considering moving my business to if DL's takeover of NW is approved. From what I read at Flyertalk, this fee does not include international flights and does not apply to elites or to carryon luggage.

I don't believe any of the airlines apply their baggage charges to either elite members, business class or first class passengers.

Behaving like LCC's without the cheap tickets maybe. More and more I find myself looking toward Airtran, Frontier and Allegiant for our trips when I can.

                What a surprise!

Untidy charging for bags just like most of the rest.

                Cheers

Unfortunately, as oil continues to rise, the structural advantage of the LCC's (low labor costs) shrinks in relative terms.

LCCs and Legacies will be meeting one another much closer to the high end of the fare range barring a collapse in the oil market, I'm afraid.

So far, ff elites seem to be exempt from all of these new charges. I am keeping my fingers crossed that continues. So are international passengers.

We were able to get FF tickets for 35k to Hawaii and were lucky to be able to do it. Now we are trying to figure out the baggage issue.

Since we are traveling before August 18 there is no first bag charge.

Still trying to figure out how much if any they will charge for a boogie board bag with two boogie boards in it. They list practically everything else but boogie boards. Even calling them and asking was not helpful as they are confused. Sheesh.
