$1.00 a gallon!!!

Saw a thing on local news last night about a ethanol converter you can buy. The thing takes water, sugar and outputs ethanol. The claim is gas for under $1.00 a gallon. Of course the device costs $10000 which makes it a little impractical for an individual but apparently is selling well to those with fleets of trucks/cars.

But what about the Electricity

The problem with Ethanol is that the ingredients might cost less that a $1.00 a gallon. But the cost of fuel or electricity needed to distill it will cost you nearly $3.00/ a gallon. I sure the $1.00 figure quoted does not include the electric costs, which here in the Northeast are at $.35/Kwh.
