Heading to Sunset Ridge Villas on St. John tomorrow. Looking forward to a week of sun, sand, and beautiful turquoise waters. Last time we were at Sunset Ridge was in '98. Since then the owners have taken over management from the developers. The website says that renovations have been made. I'll be able to see for myself and perhaps write an updated review for the forum. If anyone has been to St. John recently & has any last minute tips I'd be glad to hear from you. Charlie

Charlie I'm sure you have heard from Craig but.... I really want pictures of units and common areas and give me the skinny on unit E!!!!
I am jealous. OH so jealous. STJ is my favorite place on this little blue planet. And I have been to quite a few places! Not so many as some others but more than most. The left coasters can KEEP Hawaii.
Love,
the location girl from TS4Ms.
ETA If you have not done the Reef Bay hike well worth it. Arranged thru Ranger station in Cruz Bay. Great burgers and maybe the best cream of mushroom soup in the universe at Crazy Legs Coral Bay. Of course one sunset meal at pricey Asolore is a must.Lawren

Yes, Craig has told me to be ready with a report when I return. We are staying in Unit B(same as in '98) though I asked about a switch into E.
They told me a new owner is going into that one. We have done the Reef
Bay hike- a great trip down the mt. with a boat ride back to the Ranger station. And we ate at Asolare with its georgeous views. Also have tried
Chateau Bordeaux and the Fish Trap but never got to Skinny Legs. Will try that this trip and look for the owner whose legs give the restaurant its name.
Don't really like to think about having to return from this paradise. It's one of our favorite places too. But we have some plans for some nice trips in the
coming months. Gotta get packing. Charlie

I am not a rookie so be careful what you say to your elders, especially your father Craig. Wills can be altered, you know. I have to make this reply short
since I am getting ready to go into NYC tomorrow. Doing the World Yacht Cruise Tues. and South Pacific for Wed. Part of the wife's retirement goody
bag. Have not had a chance to write the review of Sunset Ridge because I have been busy with a major mishap. When we left last Sat. I took something from my basement freezer. I removed a frozen turkey breast. It was left on the basement floor and has simmered there for a week. Don't ask how this happened. Trying to clean up and remove the horrible odor has been a major project the last 2 days. I know the whole thing is laughable but let he/she who has never left a turkey out for a week to thaw and smell throw the first stone. Anyway, I have alot to report about Sunset and photos too but we don't get back from the city till
Thurs. night. I ask your indulgence and advice for odor eliminators. Will probably get the report done this Fri. Give me detention or a letter home to my son. Charlie

Well never a turkey breast..... if you can bear vinegar <definately preferable to spoiled turkey in my book> leave an uncovered dish of white vinegar in the area and close the door. Another thing that works well is charcoal briquettes.
One quick question Charlie. Did you like it? Would you recommend it?
OK that's two questions.
Enjoy the goodies in NYC.Lawren

Didn't take the trip to the Baths this time. Went once before and loved it though. Have heard that in recent years the location attracts too many people but anyone who's never been there should go at least once.
Lawren, I still consider St John one of my favorite places but I did not like
the unit at Sunset Ridge and could not recommend it until extensive
refurbishment has taken place. Even other units I was able to look into that
had some minor work done did not impress and the pool was constantly murky. More needs to be done to bring this property up to par. More details
and photos will be coming by the end of the day on Friday. I am off to the Big Apple. Have to get away from the foul smell of fowl. Charlie
