  • Kayak no longer displaying AA fares

American Airlines Fares No Longer Displayed On Kayak Or Sidestep

I wonder what led to this... kayak fees? or does AA not have competitive fares often enough? Bummer, anyway.

When did this start, This will hurt AA more than they think.

not sure, just got the email today, it appears to have been sent to folks who have used kayak to link to AA tickets in the last year.

I just DId a search on Kayak and it showed AA on the big list of airlines with no price next to it. This will hurt both AA and Kayak , I know if I can not get a true search on Kayak I will use another search engine.

AND...if you click INFO it directs you to Cheap Tickets...geez, what's the difference except exclusivity?

          Again, I can't keep up

I e-mailed them about this and here is the response:
            Hi there,

Kayak strives to include as many carriers and providers as possible in our search results. However, as you've noticed, we are no longer displaying American Airlines.

American Airlines recently informed Kayak that we could no longer display prices and availability directly from AA.com unless we suppressed search results from our online travel agency partners. At Kayak.com, we are dedicated to providing a comprehensive and objective display to our users. We are simply unwilling to compromise the user experience by suppressing results based on a partner's request.

Hopefully American will change its position soon, but for now, I hope you understand our decision. Please let me know if you have any questions.

            Kind regards,

            Dylan McCoy

So, it appears that this isn't simply an omission by Kayak.
I don't quite understand American's rationale, though- you'd think they'd want to pop up on as many search engines as possible.

I was just on Kayak and AA is displaying prices again. They must have come to an agreement.
