I'm with you! I remember one time, it was so bad that I have even asked them very politely to stop and it didn't do any good. Thank goodness it was only a 3 hr flight and not a 10 hr flight.

That one ranks up there for me too, Shaggy. And btw adults do it too, kick the seat or pull on the seat top to hoist themselves into their row. That's my airplane peeves.

As far as driving to my vacation destination goes, traffic tie ups, and also sneaky cops hiding in their cars behind bushes in Southern states, hoping to make quota and give out a few speeding tickets.

As for actual resort destinations or hotel rooms, I hate when a room is billed as "non-smoking" but it stinks to high heaven of cig odor.

I fly a lot and there lots of things to complain about but mostly becausa the airlines cram too many people too close together in order to make a profit.

My real peeve is checking in a non smoking room that has been smoked in.

Smoking still my biggest peeve.

I used to fly business class to Southeast Asia all the time. Due to a marketing agreement my company had, I had to use Malaysia Airlines which was usually very good service and food. However, on the route that went through Japan they allowed smoking in certain sections. So here I was in the non-smoking section with a guy in the row right behind me smoking away.....it drove me crazy and was the worst flight I had ever been on. So I turned on both of my air vents which were cold air and pointed them back toward his row to keep the smoke away from me.....he finally begged me to turn them off and promised to stop smoking.

I don't blame him for smoking as he was in a smoking section...but I tried and could not be moved to another section. And I had to go to Japan on that trip otherwise I would have skipped that flight all together. Most of the time I took the flight via Taipei which was non-smoking for everyone. But I do believe some airlines still mix the smoking and non-smoking sections on international airlines and routes. It is not worth it.

Why is it anywhere you fly into, your connecting flight is always at the
other end of the terminal. Is it a conspearacy thing with the airline or just

Where do they come up with those meal rates for mandatory fees?

Most times the food and drink is not top shelf.

And who here will admit they can eat that much food in a day to justify the bill?

No one begrudges you your opinion. I just said that since airline seats don't recline very far, ones like yours mystify me. I didn't say it was wrong, I just said that I can't figure out why people who share your opinion continue to complain about something so silly and expect anyone who sits in front of you not to avail herself of the meager comfort the airlines intended by making minimally reclining seats.

No need to get defensive, NOR offensive. No one said anything to or about you personally, so there is no need to retaliate. We're just folks here, voicing our "opinions", to which I might remind you I am equally entitled. "Not right, not wrong." If it were personal, believe me, you'd know it. However, YOU made it personal with that "stow it" line. The "you" I was referring to, BTW in case you couldn't figure it out, was simply a hypothetical "you" ("he") who is physically a big person. I couldn't have meant you possibly, because I don't know if you're male or female, big/normal/small.

But golly gee whiz, thanks for setting me straight.

And the "ironic" comment was completely uncalled for. It's precisely these knee-jerk, intentionally offensive attacks that get things going in a negative direction. But thanks for the direct illustration of exactly what I'm talking about.

Daniel, there is a wide range on what AIs charge, as well as a wide range of quality of food and drink. In the one we like in Cozumel, for example, the charge is $55 per day. This covers our complete bar bill, meals, our use of sailboats and windsurfers, plus entertainment at night.

Of course, the food isn't "top shelf." Most people understand from the outset that it's institutional food. You're not going to an a la carte restaurant (however, the Cozumel one has 2 a la carte restaurants, which we go to at least one night when there. But most nights we're doing night dives, so the buffet get-and-go concept works best.)

Also, renting sailboats or windsurfers, even for an hour, is a very expensive proposition.

I don't drink alcohol, but I still feel it's worth it. They make me all sorts of wonderful virgin concoctions, and I can pick out the fruits I like and they'll make me a smoothie. Those aren't cheap.

For those who want their vacations to be epicurean delights, an AI is clearly a wrong choice. The focus at most AI is not on gourmet meals (however, some places are quite chi-chi. Like I said before, it runs the gamut.) We, however, enjoy not having to get all dolled up, hail a cab, figure out where we want to eat, order, pay for the cab, wait, pay the bill, find another cab, pay the driver, and return to the resort. That's a lot of time and stress we don't want. And besides, I am sure that with drinks, entertainment, activities, plus going to restaurants twice a day you'd quickly surpass that $55 per day.

However, I can understand your inability to figure it all out when I hear of some places that charge $125/day/person. That would have to be SOME food to be worth an extra $250 per day! Different strokes.

All-inclusives can be well-worth the money, but you have to exercise due diligence so that you can know what other resorts in the area charge and how their product compares in order to be able to judge the relative value.

My biggest peeve is the time it takes to get through some auto rental lines.

I usually select my auto rental from internet sources at the lowest price availalble. So as I travel to different airports the rental auto company used can vary from trip to trip.

One observation is that it some auto rental companies seem to purposefully check you in as slow as possible. These rentals seem related to rental companies that are affiliated with a premier brand and a budget brand but sharing the same fleet. The premier company checks you in ASAP. The budget brand drag their feet so the needs of the premier brand may be fulfilled first.

Just my impression.

Is it worth it to get connected with one auto rental company ? Can you then consistently get a very low rate at all locations that matches the best internet rates ?

Pet peeves:
1) People who don't understand what CARRY ON luggage means... who try and store a full size suitcase over my head, with their winter jacket and 3 shopping bags!!!

2) Spending 3 hours on an airplane with a 1/2 a coke and a bag of pretzels
3) having to be at the airport 2-3 hours early because of new security rules. (mind you I like security-- just hate the time it wastes)
4) Children who should have been left home at grandmas because they don't have the manners to travel.

Ts all about the bed

The only thing that gets me mad is checking in to a room and the bed has lumps. I don't care if the room is old, carpet is worn or the bathroom has no towls. Just give me a bed with NO LUMPS!
