I have been very challenged with timeframes lately and I completely missed the 331 for FF saver awards. The fourth of July from NY to Maui. I was sure I was going to have to be creative.

Just got off the phone with a rep (as my return is from a different island and not within the 331 yet). I have my flights out at the times I wanted, from the airport I wanted and connecting thru the airport I wanted to the island I needed.

Of course I will have to keep calling them and moving out my return but I couldn't be more pleased with my luck so far. I always read such horror stories about these things but UA, in my very limited experience, has always come thru for me.

Using UA in the west is good but try getting tickets to some of the East coast spots. My Sil threw in the towel with UA.

Lawren, so you've been able to book the trip and then successfully change the return date? I usually wait until I can book both legs and take my chances then. What are your tips for doing it the way you're doing it?

I call them each day and move the return out until I get to the day I need. Well worth the $25 each to get it done that way at least for me. Air from NY is ridiculous we wouldn't be going if we had to pay for the tickets. Current air is +/- $1100RT.

I still cannot believe I was able to get 3FF tix out of NY 8 days after the open on those flights...

PS Frank why would you use FF for eastcoast? I've used UA to Aruba via US but usually east coast is way below my $ parameter for using FF miles.

Two years ago I was able to get two r/t tickets to Hawaii on UA with Saver and two with Standard. We have enough miles if we need to get all four with Standard this time. I may just wait until I can book the entire r/t. Counting down to August 30.

Just the one time for each ticket if you move them each day.
I got all 3 on Saver Awards.

I just can't take a chance that the "out" date was going to sell before the "in" date in high season.

With Standard awards you usually don't have to worry about that. As long as there are seats on the plane, you can get them. And of course we only have to worry about flights from SFO to KOA.

Recently got dd a ticket from State College, through Dulles, to Heathrow using Saver award.

I never have luck with UA unless I pay the huge amount for the standard award. Can't seem to time it just right.
