I am searching for fares to near Pau, France from possibly Edinburgh, Scotland or Ireland. It looks like Edinburgh to Toulouse, France @ $169 US is the best so far.
I get confused on how taxes are calculated. I think the $169 fare broke down to about $10 fare + $159 taxes.
When I saw 1 pound fares with Ryan Air last summer, they seemed cheap. Am I correct to assume the tax portion is pretty much set and if you can find a fare for $10 or less + taxes that is probably the best you will find?
Or will taxes vary substantially depending on the airports of departure/arrival or other reasons?
Also, I needed one way fares Italy to Edinburgh for next June. The least expensive routing was Naples, Italy -> London Gatwick arriving before midnight then London Gatwick to Edinburgh leaving 6:30 am. I priced the trip as two one ways NAP-LGW & LGW-EDI and it looks like it was slightly less expensive. I wonder if I had called British Airways that the reason the one way with two flights cost more was because it the layover was over 6 hours.
Cheap Flights, Airline Tickets, Cheap Airfare & Discount Travel Deals - Kayak.com showed US $ prices but it brought me to British Airways which priced it in pounds. Then the conversion might depend when it hits my credit card.
THANKS for any advice.
