I drive a little under 8 miles one way to work. I have no traffic lights and just one stop sign. Being in the country I can pull out of my driveway and not have one car in front of me the entire way. Sometimes I see more animals than cars. What a commute!

Speaking of KM vs miles. We noticed while traveling in Vermont a few months ago that the road signs showed distances in miles and Km's. Anyone know why?

2.2 miles door to door. I purchased a new Saturn coupe 09/04 that I basically use to "commute" and it now has a whopping 5700 miles on it. My god, at this rate if the car lasts to 100,000 miles it means I have to work until I'm 93

I drive about 2 miles to the train, ride for 1 hour and 28 minutes, walk 15 blocks, and arrive at the office 2 hours after I left my house!

        But I hardly buy gas.

Fortunately I don't have to drive to work each day, but am in the Kentucky state capitol 2 or 3 times monthly for committee meetings.
I live 265 miles away from Frankfort, the capitol. This may be the furtherest of anyone posting.

I also work at home. So that's down the hall, then 14 steps downstairs.

About 25 miles each way - about 30 minute drive. In the winter, however, it could take up to an hour or so depending on the snow/ice. In the fall, someone always hits a deer, so there may be a bit of backup.

                    # of miles to work

I drive 8 miles each way and it only takes me 17 or so minutes. I've even started to take the scenic route and can get there faster than the highway on some days! I've been enjoying my jount in the country and a little bit of city driving.

                      My comute

My commute is about 30 miles one way. To cut gas cost, I have been carpooling with 2 other people since October so I drive every 3rd week. It helps alot. Plus we have a riot in the car laughing & talking about different things.

I am an independent software design consultant so it all depends who the client is. Many times I work at home or a combination of on-site and at home. I will only work for clients in Silicon Valley ( SF Bay area ). My current client is in Sunnyvale and my wife and I rent an apartment just 2.2 miles ( 5 minutes ) from work. I have been working with this client for 10 months now and they want to keep me forever so we are working on a way to allow me to do all my work from my home here in Murrieta where I am working right now. We have to find a way to install their proprietary tools on my PC. The client is very happy to allow me to work from home if we can do it.

Actually I retired in 2002 but I love my work and it keeps me active.

As a side note, for a large metro area, Silicon Valley is very easy to travel around in. My wife and I enjoy the SF Bay area very much. We lived all over the Valley, Los Gatos, Cupertino, San Jose, Sunnyvale and owned 3 houses in the valley.

Right now both my husband and I work at the same place...it's nice not to drive alone...about 17 miles, taking abour a half hour.
p.s. if we're not getting along, we'll take separate cars

I'm about 26 miles from work, but I'm either working a 3 day or 4 day week and most of that is out of the normal traffic times.
Delaware is small but the traffic is large and north to south is but one highway ( I-95 ).Whoever designed the on/off exits must have been crazy
