    Severe Weather Travel Advisory

    This is a Severe Weather Travel Advisory for the following Starwood Vacation Ownership Properties:

    Harborside Resort at Atlantis, Paradise Island, The Bahamas
    Vistana Beach Club, Hutchinson Island
    Sheraton PGA Resort, St Lucie County
    Sheraton Broadway Plantation, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
    Sheraton Vistana Resort, Orlando, Florida
    Sheraton Vistana Villages, Orlando, Florida

    This is a Severe Weather Travel Advisory for the Harborside Resort at Atlantis, located on Paradise Island, The Bahamas regarding implications of Hurricane Ike.

    We would like to inform you that Hurricane Ike will threaten Paradise Island and Nassau (Northewestern Bahamas) within the next 3 days. It is forecasted that once the storm reaches the resort area, it will be a Category 3 Hurricane with winds between 111 - 130 mph. This is a major hurricane.


    Given the severe intensity and potential direction of this dangerous storm, Harborside Resort at Atlantis anticipates that weather will severely deteriorate as early as late Saturday or early Sunday morning. As a precautionary measure, for your personal safety and the safety of your traveling party, if your reservation is scheduled anytime within the affected storm period of Sunday night Sept 7th through Wed Sept 10th, we are requesting that you find an alternative destination that is not directly in the path of this storm.

    As such, we are requesting that owners with reservations to Harborside Resort during this timeframe contact Owner Services as soon as possible to make alternate vacation plans at 877-782-7496.

    Vistana Beach Club located on Hutchinson Island and Sheraton PGA Resort, located in St Lucie County, regarding Hurricane Ike


    We would like to inform you that Hurricane Ike will threaten the coast of Florida within the next 4 days. Currently the storm is a Category 3 Hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Scale with maximum sustained winds of 125 mph. This is a major hurricane, and is currently forecasted to come within 100 miles of the resort.


    Vistana Beach Club and Sheraton PGA Resort anticipate that weather will severely deteriorate as early as late Tuesday evening September 9th or early Wednesday morning September 10th.

    Emergency vehicles such as police, fire, and rescue will not operate should the winds exceed 40-45 miles per hour. Given the severe intensity and direction of this dangerous storm, and potential evacuation, we are contacting all of our Owners and guests to arrange alternate vacation plans. Please contact owner services as soon as possible at 888-786-9637.


    This storm continues to change frequently so we urge you to follow the storm’s progress and make vacation decisions that best consider the welfare of your traveling party.

    Sheraton Broadway Plantation, located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina regarding Tropical Storm Hanna


    Tropical Storm Hanna is currently positioned in the Atlantic east-northeast of Nassau, about 625 miles south-southeast of Wilmington, NC. The storm is projected to affect the state of South Carolina within the next 24 hours. Based on the local forecast in Myrtle Beach, SC there is a potential of 40-60 mph tropical storm winds with 3”-5” of rain. Local authorities anticipate that the worst part of the storm will affect Sheraton Broadway Plantation Friday evening, September 5, 2008 through Saturday, September 6, 2008.

    Emergency vehicles such as police, fire, and rescue will not operate should the winds exceed 40-45 mph. For that reason, we are contacting all of our owners and guests to urge you to follow the storm’s progress in order to make vacation decisions that best consider the welfare of your traveling party.

    Again, please follow the storm’s progress and notify Owner Services or your Exchange Company of any changes to your vacation plans.

    Sheraton Vistana Resort and Sheraton Vistana Villages, located in Orlando Florida, regarding Hurricane Ike


    Hurricane Ike is expected to threaten the coast of Florida within the next five days. The storm is currently a Category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale with maximum sustained winds of 125 miles per hour.


    Given the intensity and potential direction of this storm, we encouraged you to monitor local weather reports and check the status of your flight before leaving for the airport.


    Please be advised, this storm continues to change frequently so we urge you to follow the storms progress. Should you decide to alter your reservations, please contact Owner Services at 888.786.9637 as soon as possible.

    actually as of this morning the path looks a bit better for Paradise island...the track is definitely further south near Cuba - parts of the Bahamas have the 'pink' warning....

    And Nassau and Paradise island are above the "u" in "TUE" on the map to the right of the big island and isn't even in the 'cone'.....I am trying to be optimistic

      Update from Starwood...

      This is a Severe Weather Travel Advisory for the Harborside Resort at Atlantis, located on Paradise Island, The Bahamas regarding implications of Hurricane Ike.


      We would like to inform you that the direct threat by Hurricane Ike seems to have passed for the North Eastern Bahamas. Currently the storm is a Category 3 Hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Scale with maximum sustained winds of 110 mph. This is still a major hurricane.


      Harborside Resort at Atlantis remains open at this time. However, we encouraged you to monitor local weather reports and check the status of your flight before leaving for the airport.


      Please be advised, this storm continues to change frequently so we urge you to follow the storms progress. Should you decide to alter your reservations, please contact Owner Services at 877-782-7496.
