If so that would make a bit easier to use carry on versus checking in. I see the stewardess hang them for first class in the cabin but can every one bring them on board?

Sure but unless you're in First, it probably won't get hung. It get's stuffed in the overhead or if you're boarding group 7.... under the seat in front of you.
... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

I used to take one all the time. I just draped it over the other carry-ons in the overhead bin. Worked great for me. Of course I can also see into the overhead bin to be sure my bag is settled just so. Good luck with that Frank!

Yes, I used to take one when I traveled for business. It's better if the flight attendants will hang it, but garment bags are pretty well designed and the clothes weren't really wrinkled even if the bag stayed folded for an entire flight--I just had to remember to take the clothes out and hang them as soon as I got to the hotel.

I have seen some that roll up into a sort of Duffle. Looks like the best bet. If money is no object, the TUMI on line store had a rolling Garment Bag for around $600.

Me, I just use a Swiss Army combo roll aboard / backpack.

          Cheers

I just traveled to Boston last week on USAirways and took a garment bag on board as well as a large bag which contained my purse and book.
