Our luggage needs replacing and want to get recommendations from folks for some options considering the new airlines rules and extra cost for first and second bags.

We just started making use of the carry on rollers we had bought from Eddie Bauer.

check in the basement of airports. They have lots of unclaimed bags and you just never know what will be inside.

We own this set - claims to be the lightest luggage available. They also sell a little portable scale so that you can weigh your luggage before you go to the airport. Whenever I take the small one on a plane as a carry-on the security staff ooh and ahh over it as I am taking through the x-ray rigamorole.

And here is the link to the scale

I personally prefer the Costco Kirkland Signature Luggage. I bought a couple of pieces at the same time that my wife got some expensive Samsonite. The Costco luggage has held up much better than the Samsonite and was cheaper.

Balanzza Digital Luggage Scale is what we use to weigh our bags so that we don't get caught in any of the extra weight fees.

We bought a set of Atlantic over 10 years ago. We take at least two trips/year, and I traveled for business for 3-4 years with it, including several destinations through Europe. It has scuffs, etc from handling, but has been a great set.

I have to agree..I have almost all Atlantic and they have held up for the past several years. I've traveled for business with them and they go on 5-6 trips a year with us..just scuffed up a bit. The Samsonite I bought, for twice the money, has a broken zipper...used it 5 times.
