I would find out what the going rate "was" (since all the hotels are filled) at the Sheraton or other Alexandria nice hotel and then charge that per night plus half because this is a 2 bedroom. I would think this would be a fair price considering the location and the event. - I would not go any lower esp. since you have 88 who have contacted you and inquired. Someone should be willing to pay the price and since you were luck enough to have this week you might need to make it when you can.

D.C. Officials May Relax Rental Rules for Inaugural Week

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Because of the high demand for housing during the Inaugural Week, D.C. officials are planning on making some big changes to the District's rental rules.

So many D.C. residents plan on renting out their homes and apartment that FOX 5 has learned that the District plans on temporarily suspending the rules governing those rentals. As early as Wednesday, the Fenty administration could announce a temporary suspension of the rules governing the subletting of homes and apartments.
FOX 5 learned that the move will allow the District to assume an advisory role for one-time inaugural renters.

Since Democrat Barack Obama was elected the next president of the United States, ads have been popping up on Craigslist. People all over the D.C. area are offering up their homes and apartments for rent. According to one ad, you could rent a one-bedroom apartment in Northwest for $8,000 for a five-day stay during Inauguration Week.

Bill Hanberry, head of Destination D.C., says the tourism office is receiving calls non-stop from people who are looking for housing.

"I'd like people to be cautious about that," said Hanberry. "They need to go to reputable websites and that they use a lot of caution and forbearance when they're deciding to do this or not."

So many apartments and houses are being advertised for rent that the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs says it could be impossible to inspect them all before January 20.

Sources tell FOX 5 that suspending the rules over who can rent would let DCRA focus on getting out safety information to Inaugural Week renters.

But housing isn't the only area where people are trying to make a fast buck. Howard Gantman, the director of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies says they're trying to discourage the resale of tickets to the Inauguration Ceremony.
California Senator Diane Feinstein's office said Wednesday she plans to push forward on making it illegal to sell inaugural tickets, which will be given out for free. Gantman says the Inaugural Committee has asked eBay and Craigslist to take down such ads.
"There are some websites that are out there starting to say they can guarantee you tickets, some of the sites say we have tickets," said Gantman.

No one in the Fenty administration would speak publicly about the plan on Wednesday, but FOX 5 was told that an official announcement on the temporary rules change could come as early as Thursday.

Experts Warn Inaugural Rentals Can Be Risky Business

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Obama-mania has taken over the nation's capital, and you're probably already getting calls from long-lost friends and relatives who what to stay with you during the inaugural festivities in January.

Have you considered renting out your space—or even your whole house? Lots of people are doing it, but some consumer advocates say you should be careful.
Dave Shineman, an Annapolis resident, gave FOX 5 a tour of one of the two houses he's renting out for the week of the inauguration. It's luxury all the way: six bedrooms, a deck-top hot tub, plasma TVs—a boathouse on the bay. He says he decided to rent it out right after the election.

"And boom, we got eight inquiries the next day," said Shineman.
The cost for the rental? $7,500.

"It's not expensive if you compare it to having to get six hotel rooms for the week," said Shineman.

He says he's already got 10 people from Atlanta lined up, and they're involved in official inaugural activities. The house is 40 to 50 minutes from downtown D.C., but Shineman suggests driving to the New Carrollton Metro station, parking, and taking the train in.
A little closer to town, Donna Beausoleil of Silver Spring is bringing in some extra cash from the Obama influx.

"I'm renting out rooms in my new house," said Beausoleil, adding that she has three bedrooms for $150 a night.

The Montgomery County Office of Consumer Affairs has advice about short-term leasing. For less than 60 days, the usual landlord-tenant rules don't apply, so homeowner don't need a license. But executive director Eric Friedman says Google everybody—you shouldn't trust strangers like family.

Friedman says renting is risky. What if something breaks? Valuables disappear? Or, what if someone makes a copy of your key?

"I think I'm a fairly good judge of character, and I take a large security deposit," Shineman reasoned.

"I'm gonna hide all my valuables—you know, jewelry and stuff," said Beausoleil.
Montgomery County's consumer director says ads on Craigslist and ebay are a little like the wild west, unchartered and unprotected.

No, I rented what I had for the price I requested on November 7th, but have let the ad run because it's paid for and in case I buy another property right quick.

This one will not be able to get the unit. I believe Spence mean the rental unit that can be available in time, and he probably watch the cancel list. Although based on the response, it probably be hard.
