Just so everyone knows, the quote in the post above is misrepresented. I did not misspell anything in RED!

OK, well, I did misspell the word disparate, I just didn't do it in RED. I did get the discussed $3000 for a 4 day rental 18-22Jan. Cool, to bad there isn't an inauguration every quarter.

If there is, it probably will only worth like few hundred 7 nights.

Glad you get all yours rent out. Saw an eBay rental list for the same resort that only get to $800 end at 13th, good thing is it does not meet the reservation.

By the way, the close all the road to DC, image escape from New York.

What about my 4th of July week?
I only realized in October when I visited El Cid in Mazatlan that we could use our 3.4 Million points at Fairfield. I believe they also have a property in Alexandria, Virginia near DC.

Since we have more timeshares than we can possibly use, I am wondering if it would be a good idea to reserve holidays like 4th of July close to DC. I doubt we would use them even if we couldn't find a renter because we don't like crowds.

I sort of assumed it would have been unavailable to reserve around Inauguration 2009.

Also, I am about to cancel 15 nights in Vallarta Torre in Puerto Vallarta for March 2009 because we need to be in Mazatlan instead. Since the reservation was made in 2009, the Vacation Internationale points need to be used before 31 Dec 2009. I can book Christmas in Hawaii instead. My guess is that if we don't use Christmas in Hawaii or find a renter, that the exchange companies would be happy to have it and give us a good trade.

I went to the last Inauguration in 2005. The Marriott closed off the floors above the entrance. If I new the demand would be so high, I would have used Marriott points to book rooms with views of the parade below and tried to rent them.

Any advice about whether a different approach is better would be appreciated.
