The Superbowl is being played in Tampa. Isn't that a bit of a commute from Orlando?

Actually it's not a bad drive. It's all highway and takes about 1.5 hours. I have a friend living in the Tampa area and when we go to Orlando I always make time to visit her or she me. It's about 80 miles.

        Orlando resorts for the Superbowl...

Orlando will be very busy! The last time the game was in Tampa it was crazy.. Many families made a week of it- so Orlando was an obvious choice.. The I-4 drive is normally about 90 minutes, but traffic will be a nightmare the entire weekend!

Have a laugh at all the oil rigs along the interstate in "Orlampa" when you drive by.. I don't know if they actually work- but I can't help but giggle when I see them! When you combine them with the "Dinosaur World" attraction- it could be the most hilarious tourist trap in the state and straight out of a Griswold's Vacation!

Renting a TS for SuperBowl is harder than one would think. I did it a couple of years back; I rented a Westin Kierland when the game was in Phoenix.

You have two unique issues. First, most TS "weeks" are Saturday to Saturday which is sub-optimal for a Sunday football game. Unless your resort has a Monday to Monday possibility, I would reserve a Friday to Friday and hope that whoever wants to rent will also want to stay there for a few days after the game. Otherwise, prospective renters are unwilling to pay seven days rent for two or three days of occupancy.

Second, no one knows which teams will play until 14 days before the game. I advertised on MyResortNetwork and Redweek to no avail. Craigslist has something preventing running the same ad in multiple cities, even though it seemed to me that people in at least two cities would want to rent a SuperBowl condo. I ended up auctioning the two halves of the lockoff unit separately on eBay, getting 2.8x MF's, which was certainly good, but was not the killing I had hoped.
