  • SAN FRANCISCO timeshare

    Hello

I want to buy a week in a resort at S.F.

I saw 2 or 3 different names on ebay auctions

Do you have any idea about a good resort in San Francisco close to center not that old fashion and clean that worths to buy a week...

    Thank you

How many bedrooms are you looking for? Here are some that are given the top rating by II. Club Donatello is very nice, and in a great location, but only studios are available. Fisherman's Wharf offers 2 bdrms, all the others are 1 bdrms.

      I actually need one room
I don't care that much for more
I need to use it not to exchange
      So I want something good
From pictures that I saw the most of the resorts are ugly and looks like they are so old
      What about Fisherman's?
      You think is ok?
I found an ebay auction running right now
Does it worth 900 plus... The maint.fees?

As with most urban/city timeshares the units are on the small side and the maintenance fees are high.

I have stayed at Donatello and at WorldMark San Francisco. Both those properties are like boutique hotels. In my opinion they are both better located for the city than Fishermans Wharf.

Tired is in the eye of the beholder. I think Donatello is a bit more worn room-wise but the space was larger mini-kitchen easier than WorldMark. I would stay at either again without a second thought.

How long ago did you stay at the Donatello? Two years ago they redid the carpets, sofa beds/couches, bedspreads, and some other minor furnishings. I think the overall furnishings are very nice now. (This applies to the Shell portion of the Donatello. I do not know if the Club Donatello units were refurnished the same way.)

p.s. I am not an owner at the Donatello. I just like staying there. The location is fantastic and the staff are very helpful and friendly.

It has been a while and that may be true, that the units have been refurbed. However, another of our members stayed there this summer and was less than pleased with her unit. So I would say it is hit or miss for the Shell units.

For the OP: Shell Vacation is separate and distinct from the Club Donatello units. Club units are on the top 3 floors of the building. I have only seen the hallways but those looked plusher than the Shell hallways when I was staying there.

We stayed last year in one of the top floors at Club Donatello and we did not like it. It was rundown and worn. We won't stay there again.

There are two big point based TS systems which have TS in SF. Worldmark & Shell. You can buy both and access their TSs in SF but because they are point based, you can also use your points to go to the many other TS in their systems.

Personally, I'd perfer to own a TS system which allows me to go to several different resorts (via their points) then own a single TS. Unless of course that one TS is the place you want to vacation every year like our Whistler TS.

PS between Shell & WM, Shell is much cheaper to buy but their MFs are much higher than WM's MFs. So in the long run it may be cheaper to own WM.

I would suggest the OP take advantage of one of the exchanges in RCI right now and check out the choices in SFO before buying.

That is exciting to hear! I booked Donatello as I have a friend who lives in SF and told him I had 4 choices on RCI and asked for his opinion. Donatello, The Inn at the Opera, Knob Hill and the Fisherman's Wharf. My friend told me that the location at the Inn at the Opera would be his first choice but found it's only 200+ s.f. His second choice was Donatello as it is close to almost everything. He tells me that Knob Hill area is nice but very very Hilly and hard to get in and out of. His last choice as far as location was the Fisherman's Wharf.

Gosh, I am excited to go as Donatello appears to be very nice; however, the space issue has me concerned. It has 420+ s.f. which is suppose to be large for SF standard. If they finish the new one at the Wyndham, I have cancellation insurance so I would consider it if it had much more space.

Sounds like it will be very nice but my friend was thinking that Donatello and the Inn at the Opera being most convenient location wise.

The suites at Fisherman's Wharf does sound much bigger though!

                            Have fun!

                              Timeshare in SF

I traded one of my weeks for the Club Donatello through RCI. The location according to a friend that lives there is really good as mentioned previously by other posters. What is the difference betweem Club Donatello and Donatello? According to Orbitz or Expedia, one has a star rating higher. Also own some Shell points so I thought I would book another room as there will be two of us. Just very curious as to what the difference is in the rooms.

For the initial question by the first poster, the Donatello is larger (about 380 sf) compared to the Inn at the Opera (Theatre district, a little over 200 s.f.). My friend in SF told me that out of all the timeshares that I named, The Inn at the Opera, Donatello (close to Union Square with good shopping, minutes to China Town), Knob Hill and Fisherman's Wharf, his favorite location was the Inn at the Opera, Donatello second, Knobb Hill Third (too hilly) and Fisherman's Wharf last. We chose Donatello as it was much larger.

                              Hope this helps.
