  • Even Lower Airfare

Our Florida itinerary with Allegiant Air that we booked at $781 is now $341. We can cancel, for a $200 fee, and get a system credit, which we could then use to rebook, leaving us a $240 system credit.

Only, you can only cancel by phone, their non-tollfree #, and they are not answering it.

There is also verbiage that we agreed to that all reservations are non-refundable, so I'm not sure if they would even let us cancel and rebook the same itinerary. But, we can get around that by booking a later flight the same day going down.

Well, we could get around that if they would answer their phone. It has been disconnecting after about a 15 minute wait on Hold.

I got them to answer the phone by selecting the option that we want to book a flight. Then the nicest guy rebooked our same itinerary, and we wound up with a $217 credit.

I've called some friends from OY to see if they wanna go.

I called our friends that are joining us the second week because their fares were down to $29. They had bought travel protection, so rebooked and wound up with a $337 credit.

All but new-born Great Nephew and his Niece (In Law) Mom went to Silver Dollar City Fri night. All stayed over, and more joined for Fam Christmas Sat. I lost count at 20. We had 4 generations down one line and three down another.

Another nephew, one who lost his Mom (DW's youngest sister) in a car accident when he was 3, 22 years ago, was here with his Fam of 5.5. He also lived with us for awhile.

          Sure is quiet now.

            Huh? Did you say something?

And I'm sure you will find something to spend your good fortune on. So nice to see you smiling.

Thanks. I've got it narrowed down to spending it on Allegiant Airlines, since it is a credit with them.

But, yeah, I caught myself glancing up and to the right earlier today, at our work schedules for this Spring.

With Allegiant we can go to FL, Vegas or Phoenix.

                Southwest

Another reason that I fly Southwest whenever possible. You can always cancel and bank the money for use within 12 months of the cancellation.

& they have some really great fares right now. We have offered to fly my SIL to spend the week in FL with us. If she will fly out of Chatanooga it is $90.50 RT.

It would have been nice if the new Branson airport would habe gotten SW instead of AirTran.

The new lower fares, and low fuel prices, may be more permanent than temporary. I heard today that oil may go as low as $10/barrel, regardless of what OPEC does, because the world demand is so low.

The other night when we rebooked I called our other best friends, the ones from OY who live here now and who I golf with, to invite them for the first week. But the flights down were still high.

We spent Christmas Eve with them last night, and he mentioned that those flights down had gone down to $29. Sure enough, when we checked an itinerary for them it was $241 (RT for 2!!!).

So, we used our credit on them, and they will be joining us the first week, in Englewood where there are at least 5 other couples from our golf course here. They have a friend/business associate with a place in Estero, and when we googled him, he is less than a mile from Rapmarks.

So, we called Rapmarks and gave her a hard time.

They also have a daughter and grandchildren in Sarasota, and their neighbor and his girlfriend are in Lakeland. So, their week is pretty full. As soon as we got done booking, they regret not making it for longer, like 10 days or 2 weeks. We take them to the airport 1/9, wait awhile, and our other friends arrive. The way Allegiant works, the second couple will be arriving on the plane the first couple takes home.

Rapmarks, Conchman, now is your warning, that other Jim and I would like to come down for a round of golf sometime 1/4-1/8.

Then, we and our other friends will be on Sanibel 1/10-16.

We wound up with the highest airfare of the 3 couples coming down!!! Had we waited a couple days to rebook, ours would have been $241 instead of $341, but we still were the only ones to lose $200-plus to a canc fee.

Next time we are buying the $30 Travel Insurance.

Being non-golfers/Keystone Light drinkers, they would not fit in.

I could say more, but have learned not to, that the locals don't like being talked about.
                          - - - - - - -

The rest of the tripplanning is holding true to form. We needed another hotel room for arrival day, and priceline would not let me add one at the Days Inn DW and I have.

I pricelined the same area for the same amount we paid, and got our friends a Courtyard by Marriott.

                          Where's the fairness in this?
