Hey Frank; Looks like we're going to the same place again although this time your going first. We will be going to London the end of November/ beginning of December 2009 including Thanksgiving ( staying at Marriott 2 nights before going to Allen House).

Keep good notes of what you did so I can check with you when you get back.

Frank, I'm leaving for Mayan Palace Riviera Maya next week since you liked it so much and I am going with my two daughters and their families as I volunteered to be the baby sitter for my grandkids.

As far as I know, England still has their "green tax" on air travel into England. The tax is based on how far the flight has flown. If it's not too inconvenient, perhaps you might want to fly somewhere else first and find a less expensive way into London.

That tax is imposed on leaving the UK rather than on entering, so you can do an open jaws ticket into London (but try to find a flight to more user-friendly Gatwick airport) and out of somewhere else. Amsterdam should not be that somewhere else, as the Netherlands is the only other European country besides the UK with this annoying tax. Try Dublin or Frankfurt and use an LCC to bridge the jaws (i.e. fly the short hop London to your return gateway city).
