  • Miami South Beach

My friend and I have booked a long week for a "girls trip" which we have not done in over 8 years at the end of March. We are booked at the Loews Hotel in South Beach Miami. I don't believe we will need a rental car, we'll take a cab to the hotel. I was wondering if anyone has stayed there and if there is a must do restaurant/activities in the area.

Our favorite restaurants while in S Beach were Taberna Opa for Greek family style (music and dancing at nite)http://www.tavernaoparestaurant.com/info.php and Joe's Stone Crab house ($$$ but a classic)http://www.joesstonecrab.com/findus.html .

Have not stayed at Loew's but both were a nice longish walk from HGVC S Beach location on Ocean.

Best activities are beach and lots of people watching!

We were at HGVC South Beach for a week last March, and had a great time. I was expecting more of a Spring Break crowd, but it was not a problem at all. I would second Lawren's recommendation for Joe's Stone Crab -- if you don't want to eat in the main restaurant (pretty fancy place), they have a deli-like place adjacent where you can have a lighter, more casual meal.

We didn't have a rental car either. We found plenty to do and great places to eat within walking distance, or using the very tourist-friendly bus that loops around the S. Beach peninsula. If you are into bowling at all, there is a Lucky Strike Lanes in the shopping area -- not your average bowling alley, more like a night club / lounge. Definitely a unique and fun experience.
