Look at all the mentions on line, on air and in print they got, and they did not spend a penny.

I bet they never charge anyway.

One logistical problem in pay toilets for RyanAir would be the various currencies among their destinations; euros, pounds, franks, kronor, forints, crowns, zloty, etc. and that many planes in the course of a day would fly places that would involve three or more currencies The currency situation would be much simpler for one of the USA-based ''race to the bottom'' airlines, Delta or USAirways, and I would bet that one of them did it before RyanAir.

They could make you purchase tokens before you get on the plane. Then if you don't use them, they've got your money anyway. I've read that pay toilets are very common in some European countries. And they've even got a debit card just for the toilets. Can any of our European travelers confirm this?

Yes, there are pay toilets in Germany and Austria. In past times if there were no attendants in the ladies room, the ladies would hold the door for the next in line. Now they have coin boxes with a TURNSTYLE as you enter the ladies room door so there is no getting around it.

You may not have read that the CEO of Ryanair (Michael O'Leary )announced , after 10 days of worldwide publicity , that they really had no intention of introducing this scheme .
As you know he likes free publicity.

Actually, charging an exorbitant exchange fee to those who wished to use the facility and did not have a proper coin would be a pretty good source of revenue. Selling a token for twice the interbank rate seems about right for Ryanair

            Cheers

Or they remove the paper from the washroom. Then when the attendants go through the aisles, they can offer small packets of tissue for sale.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

              “You shouldn't wear that body.”

They interviewed Michael O'Leary, CEO of Ryanair on BBC's ''Fasttrack'' last night, and he was still touting installing pay toilets on aircraft. According to the BBC, Ryanair is now the largest international airline in the world in number of passengers carried last year. O'Leary was saying that Ryanair would continue reducing fares but look to have passengers pay for ''extras'' like checked baggage or using the toilet. He blasted the legacy carriers for high fares, saying that to keep fares low, Ryanair had to ''beat British Airways, Air France, and Lufthansa into the ground'', and said recessions for the best economic opportunity for LCC's because they drove passengers from the high fare airlines to the LCC's.

Speaking of Va. closing their reststops, we were on vacation there a couple a years ago and every one we passed was closed. We got off, went to McDonalds and the line for the ladies' room was about 30 people. It took over a 1/2 hr. to get to use the facilities.

I decided then and there to not vacation in Va. again.
