  • Help with Branson, MO

    Hi,
I'm thinking about a December vacation in Branson. This is my first time and I was going to book a last call. Can anyone recommend their favorite resort and why? I'll be going with two senior ladies so it should be elderly friendly, ie. not too many stairs and not too noisy. A view of something nice would be great too. Thanks for the help.

Wyndham Meadows is nice; buildings have elevators. Don't know what part of December you are thinking of, but check out Branson Missouri Vacation Packages for Branson Hotels, Show & Attractions - ReserveBranson.com for show schedules.

I was in Branson last year between Christmas and New Years and there were more shows open then we could have ever planned to see. Some of the shows do close around the 15th. It was a great time of year to be in Branson and I will be back again this year.

              Hi Vince,
I figured it might be a good time to visit for the first time with all the decorations and Christmas spirit there. Can't wait. I was thinking of Branson Woods. Anyone stayed at Branson woods by westgate?

I could give you a novel full of information, but first here is a showfinder. If you put in Dec. 7, you will see that everything is still open that week:

                Branson Show Schedule

Branson's resorts are very high quality. The worst are better than the best in some places.

One of the top resorts anywhere, and thus the best here, is Bluegreen Wilderness Club at Big Cedar. I have seen most Decembers on LC.

When it gets time that you can check, post the list and we/I can cull it for you.

Silver Dollar City is one of the Top Ten Christmas attractions in the country.

                  Big Cedar Lodge!

Big Cedar Lodge, about 10-15 minutes south of Branson, is my favorite resort around. It is a bit of a drive into Branson if you're doing shows, but well worth it. BCL is a luxury resort with fabulous amenities. It is set on Table Rock Lake so if you get a 4th floor unit in one of the lodges along the front (2400, 2500, 2600) you'll have a nice view of the lake.

The cookie lady comes to your unit every night and leaves fresh baked cookies. There is shuttle service all over the resort, several very good restaurants, and the landscaping is beautiful. You can take a carriage ride to see the lights around the resort.

If you're a member of TUG, check out the reviews, as Big Cedar is generally a top 20 resort with well-deserved 9.50 ish ratings.

To be fair, I've never stayed anywhere else around Branson, so I can't compare it to the other options...but I have no desire to go anywhere else because I love Big Cedar

To clarify the last two posts, Big Cedar Lodge is a resort on Table Rock Lake that has been here for a long time. It started out as a retreat for a wealthy businessman's family. It is reported that his wife's ghost still haunts the place.

OTOH, Wilderness Club at Big Cedar is the timeshare portion of it, is affiliated with Blugreen, and sits on the north side of Big Cedar Cove. It is not very old. Time flies, but I'm thinking five or six years.

The extensive amenities of Big Cedar Lodge are available to Wilderness Club guests, who pay $35 per week per unit for them.

The top rating referred to is for Wilderness Club, even though it said Big Cedar Lodge.

                    Confusing enough?

Oh yeah, the grounds at Big Cedar at Christmastime are second only to Silver Dollar City.

OK, Big Cedar is great, but the OP is taking two senior ladies, so it may not be her best choice. Branson Woods would be fine. Don't know if they have an elevator in their new "high-rise" building??

I agree, as would a number of other Branson resorts.

But, back to Wilderness Club, the Lodge buildings have elevators and there are free shuttles to get around the resort, which is extensive.

Maybe the horse rides will be out.

Can't wait til Christmas. Looks like it's going to be beautiful.

I'm speaking from the pictures I've seen of the Christmas lights in the online sites I've seen about the Christmas shows. I wish I could see that far but I can barely see the font on this site without my glasses .
