I 75 Construction & Traffic

I got my daughter and her family an exchanged in Orlando for July 3-10, 2009

They live in Missouri and are planning to drive. They are looking at St. Louis - Nashville - Atlanta- FL route or an optional route Memphis-Mobile-FL. The last option is 4 hours longer, but with construction and heavy traffic on I 75, it might we worth it.

Is there a website that gives Interstate highway construction activity? And has anyone had experience on I 75 in GA over a major holiday?

There is a website for Georgia traffic construction. I cannot remember it but they do tell you the major traffic construction. Also, when you are int he zone, you call a number and it tells you the traffic ahead.
We drove I75 to Chattanooga coming north and were fine, end of April. We go straight thru Atlanta in the HOV lane.
