  • What is you Favorite/Dream Cruise?

I've been doing timesharing for over 20 yrs but only went on my first cruise a few years ago. I've been to Alaska and the Caribbean. I'm now fascinated by a Galapagos cruise but they aren't cheap. I also would like to cruise Scandinavia, Australia/NZ, South America, the Greek Isles, Panama Canal and I'm sure I can find more. My pocketbook probably won't allow for all of these so I have to narrow it down.

How about some advice or share your dream cruise??

We've cruised Alaska 3 times and it's probably our favorite place to go but, the ports get sort of old after seeing them so often. Skagway was once our favorite port but, the last time we were there it seemed to have lost a lot of it's originality and was more commercial in the sense that the cruiselines had far to much influence on what stores where open. It actually felt more like the caribbean ports.

We're about to embark on second W. Med cruise. This one will be a 7 night cruise. The first was a 12 night cruise which overnighted in Venice, Italy. By far I'd say that first W. Med cruise was our favorite. We were able to see so much history in such a short period of time plus, we were able to see some of the most interesting cities in Europe. It was great and we've anxious to return for our less expensive 7 night cruise. If it wasn't so expensive to get to Europe, we'd probably be taking more European cruises and exploring places we've only read about in books. It's not an imersive vacation but it's a great sampler platter of European's greatest cities.

Pat, we have met twice on a cruise already and both were fun. The problem is that my SO was a little disappointed because the weather wasn't that great in Alaska so we missed a lot of the beautiful scenery.

My dream cruise would be a river cruise in Europe and especially the ones that include music from the great composers in that area but again, the weather can make or break this trip but the music should be great no matter what.

PS. I have Googled many pages but cannot find my dream music cruise anymore as I don't believe it was this one. It was some time ago that I found this cruise and it certainly was on my wish list. There are many river or barge tours without music.

I thought about taking a European Cruise, but I'm afraid that I wouldn't have enough time in each port to actually do anything, or see anything significant.....The thought of me rushing back to the ship has prevented me from booking one.

Of course, if you've already spent time in the various locations, this wouldn't be a major concern.

Besides, due to timesharing, I'm accustomed to lots of space, and I tend to get sea legs.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

We are currently booked on Celebrity's Constellation for a 14 day Panama Canal cruise in Jan. 2010. Always wanted to do that one; you can check it out on the Roll Call thread over at Cruise Critic, but I think to need to have an account(free) there to view the roll call.

This will be our 5th cruise. Our first cruise was on the NCL Norway (Eastern Caribbean '94). Since then we've done all three trips with the Cruisin' Tuggers which includes the western Caribbean, Alaska and the Mexican Riviera.

              Pat,

I am not a cruise fan, but I do dream of one day being able to go on one of the Galapagos cruises. My cousin did it, said it was well worth it, a true once in a lifetime experience.

I was looking at the ones offered by Celebrity. They are expensive and very popular. $3000+ for 7 day oceanview rooms (not even balcony) and 99% of all catagories were sold out for this year and most of next.

I am surprised Celebrity even goes there. Not surprised all the categories are sold out, that price doesn't sound high as compared to other alternatives to the Galapagos, and Celebrity would offer more amenities than the smaller boats (though I'd rather be in a small boat, but that's me). Is it a big ship, or have the contracted with another provider to do the smaller boat tours?

Here's the link I was looking at. There are several more on their website. The $3000+ was a starting point with mini-suites averaging $7000+. All balconies were sold out, which I would suspect as that is the "sweet spot" for a cabin with a private balcony but usually w/o the high price of a suite.

That makes sense, I thought they only allowed small boats in the area. That "ship" only carries 90 people, which may even include crew.

Avery, that really sounds like a dream cruise. I had no idea where these islands were so looked it up and there are more cruises than one. So many nice places in this world and not enough time or money.

Maybe we could get enough TS4UM's/Tuggers to take the whole ship. We could probably get a better price that way. So me, Glitter & SO makes 3. Only need 87 more!
