  • Hotwire Classaction Suit

This morning I received notice of a classaction suit againt Hotwire for anyone who booked hotel/motel reservations through them between January 10, 2001 and May 2, 2005.

My share would be 8 real bucks or 21 hotwire bucks.

Let me know if you want the email forwarded to you.

Quoting the notice, "In the suit, Plaintiff alleges that Hotwire did not properly disclose the nature and amounts of taxes and fees charged to customers who made hotel reservations at the Hotwire Website . . . The cash refund amount will equal 25% of the Service Fees you paid to Hotwire for your Qualifying Reservations. The HotDollar amount will equal 65% of the Service Fees you paid to Hotwire for each of your Qualifying Reservations. HotDollars expire one year after the date of issuance."

I'm quite positive it was not nearly enough.

In real bucks or hotwire bucks.

I always get a kick out of this type of settlement: This company screwed you, so as a settlement we will give you something to do more business with this company.

I didn't get a notice from Hotwire but I did receive one for Expedia. It didn't mention anything about what the settlement amounts where going to be. I elected the cash option. Seems the prudent thing to do. Of course, by the time they get around to actually SENDING the checks it will be my heirs cashing them. I'm still waiting on a check for excess overseas fee's charged several years ago. I think I filed that claim almost a year ago.
