  • Canyon de Chelly National Monument

Has anyone been to Canyon de Chelly National Monument? If so, what did you think, how long does one need to spend there and do you know how the weather is the first part of April? We are considing going there over my Grandchildren's Spring Break and thinking of spending a day and maybe a part of another one.

I'm assuming you'll be going to the Grand Canyon also. If so, I think you may have planned too much time for the area. It is lovely and it is one of the oldest continuously occupied sites in the Southwest. I would allot time for White House Ruins, and for some gazing from various vantage points, but I wouldn't be thinking of a day and a half there. I guess it really depends on when you arrive. If I arrived in the morning, I'd be moving on after noon and heading for The Grand Canyon. If I arrived late in the day, I'd spend the night, see the ruins early and move on.

The weather? Unpredictable. It could be in the high 40's or the high 70's.
