um...ok now im really confused we obviously were (me not anymore) in the same situation such as THOUSANDS of other timeshare owners out there...THOUSANDS. we went with two DIFFERENT companies, so i dont understand the hostility? PLEASE FORGIVE uneducated ignorant to your standards people like us who are also capable of buying timeshares but who at a time of whatever would like to relieve ourselves of these timeshares so then utilize timeshare relief services...the funny thing is i really came here to educate myself and post here and thier regarding the experiences and joys i've accumulated from my own timeshares, and the original poster really does sound like me a while ago...i was hesitant but by that time had signed 2 contracts and just let it play out..,lol

Here's why - about once or twice a week someone starts a thread similar to yours, and mentions that "Timeshare Superheroes" or some other company is great and did this in that. Inevitably it comes out that the person that started the thread is NOT really someone that was given help getting out of a timeshare purchase, but is really an employee of said company (frequently referred to as a "shill") trying to get some free advertising and leads.

To say that the folks here have seen this once or twice before is an understatement, and sadly 9 times out of 10 that's how these threads end up playing out.

I don't have a horse in this race, nor do I have any information that I can share with you, just trying to provide some perspective as to why some may be skeptical of your intentions.

Good luck, hope it all turns out well for you,

unfortunately, as it seems you are beyond your cancellation period- you'll have one real option.. Learn how to use and enjoy what you now own (whatever that may be- you still haven't even given a hint...)

spend time in these forums and you'll soon realize that the majority of timeshare owners make their first purchase from a developer, and pay full price! There is no shame in that. Unfortunately for you- what happened in vegas didn't stay there.. It came home with you!

Don't get me wrong. Owning a timeshare is in my mind a great opportunity. The resort lifestyle is incredible! Sure- you could have saved money by purchasing resale, but people make bad financial decisions all the time. I recently blew a couple thousand in vegas myself- and the only thing new i brought home was a lightweight jacket (the wind was biting cold at night!)..

Learn how to get the most from your mystery ownership. Use your home resort or internal exchange if available. Learn to take advantage of the exchange ops posted daily on this site. You may find in a few years that while you didn't make the best financial decision- you made a great lifestyle decision!

                  Good luck...

For sellers reading this thread- there are many various "companies" that promise some type of "timeshare relief".. You'll find many disguised as "advocacy" groups that promise to get your contract canceled without any negative impact on you.. Look hard at these promises.. Please, simply use some common sense!

I saw a recent advice article that mentioned a few such organizations. malcolm berko - want to ditch your timeshare? Don't pay thousands to do so | starnewsonline.com

i didn't post the link before simply because the abandonment advice given at the end is not something i agree with in any way! Doing so harms every other owner at your resort, and is the ultimate act of selfishness and irresponsibility in my opinion. However, i've decided to post the link here with the hope that perhaps an outside voice giving warning will help convince those visitors that can't seem to take advice from the members of this forum.

FWIW, each time I read the title of this thread, my thought is, "Well, that's the standard method."

Also, whenever I read about sellers enforcing the cancellation period to the letter of the law, forcing people to keep something they do not want, I can't help but think how stupid that is and how badly it reflects on an already-heavily-tarnished industry.

I was in direct sales for 10 years, so understand this pretty well. It is stupid to force a sale to an unwilling customer, just to hope to get further payments or to hang on to a commission.

In my case, a 10% reserve was withheld from our commissions and they did not become earned commissions unless at least 1/3 of the purchase price was paid in 1/2 of the payment period. The quality of the sale determined whether the reserve got paid, and for most it didn't. Each sales person had a quality rating based both on their cancellation rate and the percentage that paid out.

The quality of the sale determines how much would be spent to service the installment account, or, if the paper was sold, how much it got discounted.

Not to mention the ill will created by forcing someone to keep a forever obligation over a day or two.

Not only did our sales have a cancellation period, but all new customers got a welcoming call from the home office, which was actually a confirmation call, which was recorded, and some sales were cancelled by the home office even without the mail-in.

Generally speaking, it is not a very fun business. Generally speaking, sales training is focused on the weakness of the prospect rather than the strength of the product.

ka1998, perhaps you are an honestly and legitimately new buyer who wants to get out of her timeshare purchase.

Or maybe, just maybe, you actually work for "xxxxx." and this whole thread is one long attempt to convince desperate timeshare owners to use them to cancel "the timeshare they said this will cover everything and it will be as if i never purchased it.it will not go on my credit or it will not be a foreclosure.." Maybe you're just pretending to be a buyer to look more legitimate.

I don't know which one you are.

Then Trishloves comes along, and "speaks" very much like you. Both of you use ellipses (...) a lot, don't capitalize words that should be, don't hit the space bar much, misspell words often...so now I think you're one and the same person. The same person, with the same agenda: getting customers steered towards timeshare advocacy int.

But, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. I'll consider you to be an honestly legitimate new owner of a timeshare in Las Vegas. Apparently, as others have said, it's too late to cancel the purchase and you should either use it yourself, or learn how to exchange it, or try selling it yourself.

But, do not, under any circumstance, give hundreds of dollars to a stranger to "cancel" it for you. That's just throwing your money away.

And Trishlove? Why not just tell us the name of your timeshare, how much you paid to get rid of it and how long it took? If you don't, it just makes it look like you work for the company.
