Has anyone tried these companies that say they can get you out of your timeshare, even months after signing?
Yes, many people have fallen for this scam. There are quite a few companies advertising this scam on the internet or by mail. They make you pay a big fee upfront and then they will send you a contract that is for a listing on their website for an inflated price and you will seldom receive a bid. Some of them list your timeshare on eBay and may get a bid there but you can do this yourself for a nominal fee.
Since your resort is back East, I would ask some questions here as you may find out more about the resort and area where you bought. I am not familiar with the resorts on the east coast. If you like the resort where you bought, you may like to use and enjoy it and try to learn how to make an exchange to another area too. It is a forced vacation now you have paid for it in advance.
I think he is speaking of something different. There are websites that promise to have their lawyers get you out of it for an up front fee of $2000+. No one legitimate has actually reported it working for them. The rule of thumb is that if they make you pay up front, it's a scam.
