With all respect Spence, I'm pretty sure that you are wrong in this case. The fact that it is a one-time usage doesn't mean that it is not timeshare.

We've purchased similar one-time point usage products twice in Hawaii, and rescission rights have always been included.

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

    “You shouldn't wear that body.”

We also purchased the sampler a year ago from the other company, GeoHoliday in Jockey Club in Las Vegas.
We regretted, and they said that $199 was non-refundable.
I called my credit card company, disputed the charge. I said that they promised us the choice of any RCI resort (they did), and in reality it was something called RSI with very little availability. And the charge got permanently reversed.
Anything you buy from the TS developer always has many built-in lies. Just compare what they have promised you and what the paperwork says or their website offers. And you will find that they lied to you (they always do, that's how they operate). Complain to CC company, and get the charge reversed.

On the other hand, this GeoHoliday didn't even notice that the charge got reversed and kept calling us reminding to use the package. But we didn't.

Did anyone hear of SaveOnResorts.com? Is this the same thing with a different website?

I'm not so sure Spence is wrong. One time usage can be construed as a rental of a timeshare, not a purchase of a timeshare. If that's the case then would the same laws that protect timeshare purchases apply?

I think a sampler package would be more akin to prepaying for hotel accommodations, where there is no refund if the trip is cancelled, much like Priceline, Hotwire or any of the discounted rate programs offered by hotel chains.

I know this thread is a few years old, but if anyone could give me advice on how they successfully terminated the DRI sampler Agreement I would appreciate it. I already contacted Patrick Duffy via email. Next day a lady from corporate called me. After about an hour conversation it was ended that I could not cancel because their was non"proof" the saless rep misrepresented the package and "no proof" tge sales rep have given me false promises if I signed. She did say they would do an "investigation" and if the sales reps, admitted they told me certain things that were not true then they could cancel. She said this would take up yo 2 months. 2 months to make 2 phone calls to the sales rep who was actually in training (learned that after the fact) and his manager who tried to cover up for his lies and misrepresentations. I can't understand if a company truly believes in its product why it would use lies and misrepresentations to keep a customer in a contract they want no part of especially if the product has not been used at all so far. Bad business and complete stupidity on my part for agreeing to it before I fully understood what I was getting myself into. Again any advice or personal experience from anybody dealing with similar circumstances would be much appreciated. Thanks

                      Deceiving Sampler Package

Is Mr. Duffy still the person to contact for resolving contract disputes? His email address was posted in 2013.

                      (Dear 890zbh -
Did you ever figure out who to contact to cancel the sampler program?)

Like you and many other people, I got lured into the sampler program. The salesperson was misleading and I was tired after 4 hours of presentation, so I made the mistake of not carefully reading everything in the contract. I signed the contract based on the salesperson's word, which is something one should never do (never trust a salesperson and always read every line very carefully!!).

With that said, I'm trying to see if I can alter some of the terms, like attending a presentation for every resort I go to (which is something the salesperson never mentioned). This is ridiculous. I would prefer to cancel but the contract contains a clause saying it can't be cancelled, so my only hope is to attempt to modify it. Not sure if I will succeed in this attempt, but I will try.

Thanks for sharing that DRI are offering such a programme. The idea is new to me in the UK! Usually such practices eventually float over the pond so I will let others know!
