    RP:

Would it be easier just to list the ones that are not scams?

      Ha.

But to the OPs point, and in answer to JLB, RP provides links to articles and information about suits /claims/charges against specific companies. I think that is a valuable service.

I am new to this forum and do not understand what RP is. Do you have a URL for them?

Need information in Elite Timeshares in Florida.

RP refers to "rikkis_playpen". He is one of the members on our site.

OK now that I know who RP is how do i find the links that Mr Glitter Brunello referred to in his comment.

I searched playpen and found hundreds of his messages among thousands of post.

Thanks for your help and have patience with a new TS owner and user of this site.

The ones that Glitter (or Mrs. Brunello) are referring to are located in this forum, the Horror Story forum.

All the lies and scams are coloring the entire resale industry.. Hopefully, the consequences will start to match the publicity and some of these scammers will think twice about the "business"..

Ultimately though, (as with everything else in this industry) consumer education is the roadmap to stopping the fraud! Hopefully this publicity will not only warn people, but also give them the motivation to try and educate themselves about resale values and the process of ownership transfer..

It seems to me that the vast majority of the scams don't hold up well under the light of simple common sense. Reminds me of something my granny used to say...

"You can spray perfume on poop, but it will always end up smelling like sh*t again!"

I really miss her.. Earthy common sense and not a moment's hesitation when telling you what she thought about something!

When you sit in a room with 100 other prospects, or someone with what appears to be a reputable company tells you something, it is easy to fall for it when you don't have the vast experience and knowledge many on forums like this do.

You tend to think . . . they wouldn't being saying this if it wasn't true.

But, the fact is that very little of what timeshare sales people, or resales people say to make a sale is true. & the portion that is true at the time they say it often does not stay true.

                      Scam or true

Your hero owns a time share worth $27,000 (thats what he paid for it anyway) - wants to sell it - pays company X $800 to list it on their web site.

Hero Does not hear form X for 8 months then a call comes with
                      "good news" -
"X is putting together a package with 100 units for corporate buyer"
"the offer for your unit is $45,000" wow hero is ready to sell and wish he had more of them -
whoe wait a minute "buyer wants seller to pay closing cost" this is OK with your hero except X says "but we need closing cost - a mere $4,000 today and we are sure to close within the next 3 or 4 months" "call with your routing number and checking account number and you do not even have to mail us a check" "trust us"

                      SCAM? or REAL DEAL?

Someone, somewhere would go for it.

I am pretty sure RP is honest man try to work in the TS industrial as well as some of the constant forums contrinuters.

Of course, if he advertise on it, than I am pretty sure a lot of people will think it is just a shilling And try to prove it is.

A real deal will set up and escrow, and get money from that corp. after everything is done, will send you a check minus that $4000.
