Just another example of our screwed up and weak kneed justice system!

An article in the Orlando Sentinel states that twenty call center employees of HES Systems were current inmates of the Orange County Corrections Department on a work-release program.

HES Systems is accused of running a timeshare marketing and credit card scam that has defrauded more than $8.5 million dollars from consumers.

You really shouldn't blame the employees for the companies crimes...Thats more of a management decision then a call center employees decision

We don't know if these guys even knew what they were doing was wrong...one employee quoted that they were helping people....Really, telemarketing jobs aren't exactly farmed out to mensa members...

I don't see how the fact that employees were on work release has anything to do with what happened with the business...these kinds of sensationalist 'news' titles just annoy me, it has NOTHING to do with what happened...everyones made mistakes in their lives...i thought we were beyond the point of people wearing a scarlett letter

Let me see if I can follow your logic here..

We are talking about a telemarketing business that allegedly targets timeshare owners by calling with a fake sale offer and then attempts to secure as much money as possible from the seller by sending them a "marketing" agreement. Or they would allegedly call individuals and promise a interest rate reduction on their credit card in return for an upfront fee? On top of this, per the article it appears that the business owners are populating their call center with about a third of their workforce that is currently incarcerated for commiting a crime.

And the response you think I should have to this is to "assume" that every single employee was simply too ignorant or stupid to understand what they were actually doing was just a scam.. I think that your take on the situation is far more insulting to the individual employees than mine!

What really ticks me off is that the individuals in charge of administrating this work-release program did not have the integrity or insight to care. 'Cuz by the way- I have personally attended a meeting where a representative from the state of Florida admitted that they were aware these scams were targeting individuals who had already been convicted of fraud simply because they were discovering that a large number of the "employees" were wearing ugly ankle jewelry when the job sites were raided. However, at that time the impression was that these groups were offering jobs to parolees. I guess H.E.S. decided it was easier to get them straight from the source, rather than wait for them to be released..

And speaking of Adultery.. I guess the extra pocket money may have been coming in handy!




I have to say that you have a VERY different point of view about this than I do.

Frankly- I think it is disgusting and I want to know just how many work-release inmates are currently working for "telemarketing" companies....
