Rescinding Timeshare Contracts and Exhorbitant Maintenance Fees

    Responsible department: Ministry of Justice

Timeshare ownership is now an unwanted item in many peoples eyes and the ever increasing cost of maintenance fees in the present economic climate is becoming a burden that people can no longer manage. T

imeshare clubs and management companies are becoming more aggressive in the way they attempt to collect un-paid fees, resorting to threats of County Court actions and utilisation of Debt Collectors, some of whom do not hold a licence.

In some cases, maintenance fees have risen so much that they are no longer viable for an owner to maintain and the rise is often far in excess of the rate of inflation.

Most contracts are held in perpetuity, meaning that liability for maintenance fee payment is FOREVER, resulting in the debt being passed down the line to your children.

The law must be reviewed to annul the perpetuity clause and allow fair arbitration in endeavours to cancel the ownership contract that exists.

Sign the E Petition - Rescinding Timeshare Contracts and Exhorbitant Maintenance Fees - e-petitions - and with sufficient signatures on the list, this matter can be discussed in Parliament and hopefully something eventially can be done to resolve the stranglegold that Timeshare Groups have over owners,

I was conned into buying a fractional ownership in Dubai by Select properties/Dubai select, I also had to pay £400 upfront maintenance fee's 1 year before I used it, what most people do not realize is, any maintenance in the 1 or 2 years is the responsibility of the contractor, the only things the management people pay for is cleaners, the apartment I was conned into collected £10400 in the 1 st yr, anyone who has worked in the middle east will know that they only use 3rd world labour, cleaners are the lowest paid, around $200 a month, that comes to approx £1500, the maintenance fee's are now £500, I asked Select properties to give me a breakdown of what the other £8900 was spent on in the 1st yr, NO REPLY, If anyone else was conned by a Select property salesman/salesmen/saleswoman/saleswomen, please contact me/reply, together we can work, I have embarrassed them with questions, which they refuse to answer
