I worked for a company called International Timeshare Network. It's been brought up here in other threads and I just responded to one.
I'm basically opening up this thread because I know the ins and outs of the business and I can help you make the RIGHT decision to selling your timeshare.
Companies like I worked for and others are really just scammers when it all boils down to it. Some are worse than others. My company actually covered themselves pretty well, but at the end of the day, they aren't doing what they told you on the phone that they are doing. No matter what they say, they are a listing agency.
I'm not here to promote anyone or promote myself. I honestly don't even know a good company TO promote, but I'm here to help you. Let me be that voice of reason before you hand these people your credit cards. If they want money up front, just say no.
If you want to list your timeshare on a website (and why WOULD YOU? You didn't BUY it that way, more than likely...why do you think it will SELL that way?) do it through Craigslist, Ebay, and Redweek. The three combined will cost you less than $50 or so. You'll get about the same results as listing with scam companies, but you'll spend a lot less. The scam companies do sometimes trip and fall and sell a property from their website, but for much less than what you paid, more than likely...so take your chances and do it for less than $50.
All this being said...the one good thing about all these companies that list properties is that they are starting a revolution on PURCHASING timeshares that they didn't intend. If you're in the market for a timeshare, and you don't mind parting with a few dollars, some of these people would GIVE it to you just to get out of their maintenance fees...literally. Others will do it for a thousand dollars or two. Some less. Why pay retail and get hassled by the whole timeshare industry when you can buy it so cheap?
These are just my $.02. Take them as you will, and if you have any questions, please contact me here via email or PM. I'll always answer.
