I just purchased 6000 annual Bluegreen points for $11,500 to go along with my 8000 biennial ones. Now, after finding this forum, I have read people can't even give timeshares away or they buy them next to nothing on the resale market. Any advantages to buying from a developer? Also, the five day cancellation period was over by the time our vacation was over and when we got home, we found out someone took the job my wife was going to get and we can't get lower financing through our bank or credit union because they don't recognize timeshares. I am not going to pay 16.99% for very long. Is there any way to get out of this legally before we make our first installment? Thanks.

You don't really want to hear from me, the former timeshare advocate turned timeshare Grim Reaper. No one who loves their timeshare wants to hear from someone who has something bad to say about them. FWIW, DW and I have timeshared more than 25 years, belonged to both II and RCI, and have been on more than 150 exchanges.
For some people, it's just not the right thing or the right time.
It sounds like you obviously do not need this, so you should whine and kick and scream and do everything you can to get them to take it back before you throw another penny away. How much effort is $11,500, plus interest worth.
Maybe tell that when you're finances are in better shape, you will be back, but that you can't even make the first payment now.
Also, there's an attorney with a board on this forum who can help in select cases.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

Thanks. I was going to explain everything to them including telling them I don't know what their "inventory specialist" told my wife while I was away getting one of my numerous cups of coffee. She seemed convinced we could do it. That was the longest "owner's meeting" I have ever been to, going from 8:30-4:30 in the afternoon! Can you tell me what tab to click on here to find this attorney?

Note that there are many scams in the resale and get out of timeshare field. Never pay anyone an upfront fee and get the costs upfront and preferably in writing before you hire anyone. Try the search feature to find that attorney.

When did you make the buy? If you're still in the rescission period you terminate the sale and get your money by following the rescission procedures in the contract.“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”
“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”
“You shouldn't wear that body.”

There are also timeshares that you cannot pick up for free, and that owners do not just give away.
There's more of the former, them being run-of-the-mill ones in areas where there are way more timeshares than necessary.
The ones that have actual market value typically are limited to weeks of high demand in areas with few timeshares. As an example that we are most familiar with, many beach resorts in SW FL in Snowbird Season have a real market, typically around $2000, even at a "modest" resort. I have been shopping for one fairly diligently, for year-round amenities rights and beach access, and have not found one "next-to-nothing."RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick
