Hi my husband and myself are new to all of this but have owned time-shares for two years in Wyndom. Every time we go and use our points we get bombarded by high arm tactics as they try to sell us more and more. We love the resorts but just want to go and relax. Hey, we have purchased three times and this is it. I think this forum will help us to be more firm and not give up our time 4 hours or more at a shot. But why don't they find new meat!

Say no!
You have obviously fallen for the "owner update" ploy. When you go to enjoy your vacation you are under no obligation to attend an update which is a thinly disquised effort to sell you more. Just say "no, thanks." Be firm. Unplug your phone. Hang around here and read everything. The folks here will help you learn more about how to maximize your purchases in 1 day then you will ever learn from the sales staff at any timeshare presentation.

ditto to what barndweller said.
You have absolutely no obligation to attend any survey, owner update, or anything else that is a disguised sales presentation. It's your vacation and why ruin it with a high pressure sale presentation that is most often distorted with lies and half-truths?
If you have an owner problem, contact owner services directly at Wyndham.

I own a couple of weeks at a timeshare in FLL. they rent out the top floor to another timeshare company, who would like to see you for a "survey". I spoke to them and told them I own several weeks of timeshares and have no desire to "take a survey". They not only called on daily basis, but called more than once a day several times and left flyers in the door...
I spoke to the management of the resort and told him that as an owner, I did not feel that I should be pestered that frequently. Everyone gets phone calls, I can handle that, but the flyers in the door was over the top. He stated that he agreed and would take care of the issue as he did not realize they contacted people that frequently. Since I have not been back since last year, I will be interested to see if the practice has stopped this year.
Most times a polite "no thank you" has worked at other resorts.

Just tell them "no" unless you want to take their free gift, or check how their business is running. If you do take update for that, tell them in advance that your sole purpose is to take the gift. And if you do that, at 90 min (or 120 min whatever their website says), ask them stop and give you your free gift, ad if they want continue, ask them to sign their name on a letter say they will not give your free gift after the required time.

Welcome Maurice and Linda...I agree with others: you just need to not go to any gathering that you really don't know the reason for. And if you find out that it is yet another timeshare presentation, get out immediately, even maybe huffing a little about the deceptive tactics. You really don't need to be ultra nice to someone who is trying to con you, which is clearly what they are trying to do. You'll enjoy your vacations that much more if you don't sit through 4 hours of strong arm practices...

Welcome to TimeshareFourms.com. A lot of good information can be had from this site. I gave up going to timeshare presentations and owers update because of the sell people and their techniques. Just say no and go on.

The best way we find is say no at the start of them asking and offering all the gimmicks just tell them this is my holiday my rest time and we do not want you bothering us with gimmicks and we have no trouble with sales persons the more they ask the more nos they get.
Just remember it is you that payed the airfare or fuel cost to get to the resort and also it is you that payed the cost of mfees and exchange fees to get the resort and you bought a week at a resort with money at some time in the past.
They all have the line you need a better deal and it you need more credits or points or a resort that gives more trade and they get a bonus to selling.
We always say how in the hell did we get here in the first place if we need more of what you are offering
Next time you go on a holiday relaxe and enjoy your self and do what you want listen no one about selling this is your time so use it

Just curious
Is it common for the the resort to attempt to get current owners to attend a presentation? Is just a 'Points' thing? I'm a new owner and only visited my resort once, but the only response I got was; "I see your an owner, welcome"

Most people just go for the free gifts, and points. Although, I guess they are somewhat successful in selling at these presentations, since they continue to hound everyone.Angela
If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.
