Thanks for the consolation Arlene. Likewise to Tony and Spence. I look forward to learning how to work the system. And while my wife and I are both 29 yrs old and financially independent, we are still not looking forward to telling our parents! This is something you and your DW did, not anyone else's business. I'll bet there are some things in your parents' lives that they have never told you or your DW. Just because you are related doesn't mean you have to spill your guts.

You're 29 years old. You are a responsible adult. Like I posted earlier, learn to use what you bought and enjoy it. It will make your family members take notice and then you can point out how smart you were to take advantage of an opportunity so that you get to take these great vacations for a reasonable price.

taking her to a resort, tho, she just figured we were 'loaded' and I've long allowed her to believe whatever she wants when it comes to me. Frankly, she doesn't care how we do it so long as we periodically treat her to a trip somewhere.

"Timeshare" is one of those words that conjures up mostly negative, except within certain circles. like this one. Where people know what it is and the value, and what it is not. timeshare itself isn't a bad thing, and the concept isn't what got the bum rap - it was the sales weasels and people that didn't take the time to understand what they bought.

There is no reason to utter the word Timeshare or Vacation Club around the parents. When you discuss a trip you are planning, still no reason. You're going to a condo in X. No reason to go into the hows and whys.

MLK Jr week, Presidents week, Labor day week and Veterans day week

So see, already u need to buy at least ONE more resale week to cover some more vacation time!
