Wow! You guys sound so knowledgeable! Thank you so much...I'll do as you suggest and stick around while I decide what I'll do. That's a good idea to stick it on Ebay and see what happens.
Actually the Ombundsman here told me that I've been mis-sold by DWVC.com and he thinks I can get my £9000.00 back. If I do I'll use some of it to pay the $3000 before putting it on Ebay.
I'm exhausted so I'm off to bed. Thanks again and bye for now.

We have a number of UK members on this website, including a moderator whose user name is KeithT. It may be a good idea to try and connect with other UK members. There is also anothe UK timeshare forum that many members who also subscribe to. It may be able to provide more info about DWVC. The web link is Timesharetalk Forum.
I hope you can recover the 9,000 Pounds you paid DWVC.

Yes . DWVC were supposed to take the TS. They took the deeds saying the will hand it back. Now I realise that they probably weren't planning to hand it back but use it in their holiday club. They knew that I hadn’t paid the maintenance for 2007 and said since it was only a matter of months in arrears they were still interested in doing this deal with me. I don’t know what’s happened but, unless I can contact them to sort it out and maybe come to an agreement I don’t feel able to resolve the matter.
What makes it more bewildering is that the resort in Ft Lauderdale have written to me saying “unless the ‘sale’ is registered in the area in which it was originally purchased, they don’t recognise the sale”.

OK, that's something else I've learned. I'm going to try to recover my £9000 as well as the deeds from DWVC but I assume that since the Ft Lauderdale resort still see me as the owner - they can issue new deeds to enable me to pay the arrears and legitimately hand them over to new owners as well as to arrange to have the transfer recorded. I do, however, have a photocopy of the original deeds.
I was telling my friends about this site: Glitter Brunello, I take it you and the others are experienced owners who still enjoy the timeshare experience. Are you mods due to the fact that you're so experienced?

You are correct in that this site is dedicated to helping people enjoy the timeshare ownership experience. Many of us own multiple timeshares and enjoy lots of great vacations through them, primarily through exchanging them for other locations (though there are other ways). The Mods here are volunteers, admittedly we do have a fair bit of experience with timesharing, though we have many non-moderator members who are also very knowledgeable. Some of us admit to being "timeshare addicts."
Our areas of "expertise" varies based on what we own, which exchange companies we use, etc. Take a look at the various "Forums" here to get an idea.
If you think you might be able to travel once or twice a year, your timeshare, especially because it is a good week for trading purposes, can give you great vacations at a reasonable cost. But if you aren't able to take the time, it will continue to be a drain on your wallet.
Ok, real life calls, back later.

You can always obtain a certified copy of your deed from the county recorder. However, since you already have photocopies, there is really no need for you to obtain a certified copy.

Not that it mattes now but I hate inacuracies so I'd just mention that, after reading through this thread again, I notice that I incorrectly typed my week as week10; that was mistake; it's week 17. After checking through my paperwork, everything was accurate.
Going to the UK forum mentioned above has proved to be very enlightening. What a pity I didn't find it earlier.
