  • Help!! A Good friend of mine just bought from developer at Williamsburg Plantation!

I told her to RESCIND immediately. She went in for a free breakfast and 5 hours later and $5900 she got an EOY float week. I don't know anything about Williamsburg Plantation but I am sure she can do alot better than $5900!!

    Please provide me with advice....

A few years ago, we bought an EOY cottage at King's Creek for $10,000 and then rescinded the next day. You could easily buy an every-year cottage there now on eBay for less than $1000 if you time it right.

A timeshare resaler named Charles Davis handles Williamsburg exclusively and he helped us rescind. He used to (and probably still does) have ads all over town that say something like "Bought a timeshare? Call us now and we can save you thousands of dollars!" He was really great, explained very clearly why and how to rescind and even gave us an envelope and paper and the certified-letter form. Maybe he can convince your friend to rescind!

I was convinced before but definitely when chaps7 gave the link to ebay. I will rescind...tomorrow. Thanks BillyMach4, I knew you would set me straight, this is addicting...do they have a timeshare anonymous, I may need to go, or is that what we are here in TS4M's.

        Thanks all, Silvia (aka Lilliana)

another question I guess what made me think I needed another TS was the trading power. My Branson Missouri horizons is good EOY - Silver but it doesn't pull in the DVC I was looking for. Which good trader would do this and not break the bank initially nor on-going.

          any suggestions??
          I heard Foxrun, any others?

The general rule of thumb is to own where you want to stay. If you're really wanting DVC, IMO, it's best to own DVC. What might be a great exchanger today could be less than desirable 10 years down the road.

For instance, when we purchased Polo Towers, there was only 1 other I.I. trading timeshare on the stip in Vegas and that was Jockey Club. Jockey Club was not a 5 star resort. Polo Towers traded extremely well.

Now, 10 years later, we have a large Marriott resort directly behind Polo Towers and the new MASSIVE Westgate's Planet Hollywood Towers just up the street. Both are newer and nicer. Planet Hollywood Towers will be connected to the Planet Hollywood casino. Guess what will happen to Polo Towers trade power once both of these new resorts are fully operational?

Several years ago people were snapping up South African weeks because they were inexpensive and were very good exchangers. That playing field has changed as well.

IMO, don't buy strictly to exchange. Buy someplace you'd like to go if all else failed and exchange when you don't want to go there. If you have your heart set on DVC then I think you should buy DVC. If you were willing to buy from the developer to begin with then resale pricing fr DVC shouldn't be something that would break the bank.

If you must buy to exchange then my opinion is to buy into a points based exchange program. Two points programs I'm aware of with I.I. would be Bluegreen and DRI.

              Hi Dougp26364,

I have RCI points which doesn't get me Disney. I would get Disney except for the price and the fact that I really only will be going to Disney once every 3 - 4 years. I needed it for 2009 since my sister wants to go with her family, My B-I-L loves disney and so does one of my nieces. They won't stay anywhere except inside the park so I figured I could try to get them something , but so far with my Horizons at Branson I can't get their date (which is prime season - Presidents week) nor the unit size she would like, not a studio.

I have not gotten up early to check availability either I must admit. I left that to her, if she'd like to.

I am confused...but I think I will rescind and send the letter Monday. What do I need to send them since now I am doing this by mail? Instead of in person, that's how they got me again the last time.

              TIA, Silvia.

Fairways of the Mountain (summer) at Lake Lure would pull holiday DVC weeks (the bigger units if Disney deposits them). That's the problem, Disney doesn't deposit much holiday weeks and if they do, it's usually studios. Fairways locks off into (2) one bedrooms as it has two kitchens. II gives me (2) AC's for my summer week 27 when I lock it off.

PM me if you want the number of Clark Kessel at Lake Lure. He just sent me a current list of his inventory of Fairways. I was looking for another EOY summer week. But all he had was an every year week summer. Dues run $285.00 for EOY, and around double that for every year.

Thanks....I think this is something I needed to hear. We stay at the world about 10-14 nights per year and always in a DVC unit. Sometimes studio - but usually 1BR. We typically rent points, wait for a code or recently traded an II unit that we received as a gift for Christmas from my inlaws. We have done this journey even before our dd was born - she is only 2 now and see many more trips to DW.

There is no real good reason that I haven't bought into it yet - except that I am just cheap. We have the upfront money and will be able to handle the annual dues.

So now we own this II trader that can pull DVC (but from what I understand - just doesn't pull as much as others can see). I have two requests in - one for Nov 08 and one for Jan 09 and am waiting patiently......but will admit this waiting game is not for me. I'm a planner and just want to start planning!

So....sorrry for the rant.....thanks for saying what I knew all along.....just need to bite the bullet and do it.

I would prefer Beach Club or Boardwalk - guess it is time to check out the resale market. I will be looking into the timeshare store - from what I understand they have a bit of experience.....anyone other places anyone would recommend?

So what exchange company, if any, gets you Disney?

Interval International gets DVC and with 5 more posts you'll be able to see all those exchange opportunities, usually smaller off season or last minute units.
