  • my wife was in tears!

i whent out for a quick smoke and when i returned to the WESTGATE SALES AREA THEY HAD MY WIFE IN THE CORNER AND 3 MEN WERE TREATENING HER AND TRYING TO FORCE HER TO SIGN A PURCHASE AGREEMENT. THEY HAD TAKEN HER COAT AND PURSE FROM HER AND WER ACTUALLY YELLING AT HER LIKE DRILL SARGENTS! SOME BIG FAT WOMAN WITH LARGE PROTRUDING BREASTS IN A PURPLE TOP SAID SHE WAS FROM CORPORATE, STOPPED ME AND OFFERED TO TWIST MY ARM IF I LIKED! SHE THEN THREATENED TO TIE ME UP! ALL THIS AFTER BEING HELD UP FOR OVER 5 HOURS! THEY BLOCKED US FROM LEAVING AND REFUSED TO COMPENSATE US FOR THE 90 MINUTE PRESENTATION WHICH HAD LASTED OVER 5 HOURS! AFTER TRYING TO FORCE ME TO SIGHN SOME REDICULOUS DOCUMENT FOR 30 MORE MINUTES THEY FINALLY COMPENSATED US AND LET US GO AFTER I PROOVED TO THEM I HAD BEEN A FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER FOR OVER 10 YRS!

    Are you serious? - -

    [marquee-right][sign]Welcome to TS4MS! [/sign][/marquee-right]

Read the board and ask your questions you may have. You'll learn a lot. Remember that it is very easy to buy a timeshare from a developer but very difficult to sell one. You almost have to give it away and certainly in this economy.

That is so over the top from anything I have seen. I had a guy swear at my wife and I because we did not purchase in the first 15 minutes, he had to cover for someone who did not show up and he did not want to be there, never showed us the property, just said that what we owned was garbage, his property was great, sign here! We did not sign and our presentation was over in 15 minutes, and that included our stop for snacks and drinks

You were a federal law enforcement officer and you allowed this to go on another 30 minutes? Somehow this doesn't sound correct. If it were me, and I've never been a law officer, I would have used my cell to dial 911 and attempt to charge them with kidnapping and extortion. I certainly wouldn't have allowed it to stop with my leaving and the freebies would have long been out the door before then. Working in the hospital I've come to know several law enforcement officers and I just can't see any of them allowing this to happen to their wives.

However, knowing Westgate it is hard not to find some degree of truth in your story. They attempted to threaten me with the cost of ANY broken or malfunctioning item in our unit if both the wife and I did not attend a "maintenance" meeting. It took me less than 5 minutes to deal with him.

This is pretty close to what I'm thinking. We have read many Westgate horror stories, and it is not out of the question that they used extraordinary tactics, but I too would have been on the phone with someone at that point, and surely would not have left my spouse to deal with them alone.

With as many as have been laid off at WG and other places, I'm not surprised that those that are left are getting desperate.
... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

I would have told those guys to take a hike and my wife and I would have walked away. No little timeshare gift is worth it. If I was an ex law officer, I would have threated them with legal action!

Let's back up to the 5 hr presentation. I who am polite by nature would have walked out. Then I would have called 911.

If this is a true story what a horrible ordeal. I had no idea this was even possible.

I, and a few others, have had the stones to warn others of the sleaze and slime that is Wastegate for many years. There are thousands of such stories out there. Even if this story is bogus, it is not far from reality.

Yet, we, the messengers, become the target, as is the case here.

Having been there, in the entrapment known as the Sales Center, I can easily see how one can be there five hours, and have stuff like this done to them, especially if they are new to the timeshare world.

I/we know what's going on, and it is always at least four hours from arrival to departure. The 90 minutes starts running when the sales wench or dude sits down and starts asking you questions. That is after you wait in the outer area, then after you eat. When they finally cut you loose, you have three more stops, with lines and waits at each of them.

The happy ending in this case is that they had the stones to not sign, which being an owner is a whole nuther, ongoing ripoff.

And yes, masses of Wastegaters are getting the axe, without any warning whatsoever, or assistance post-mortem.

Horrible story, wrenching experience, but the story begs this..................

Why didn't you get up and walk out taking your wife by the hand? Why ? I would have been dialing 911 while getting up.

Since they treat sales prospects like this, day in and day out, can you you imagine what the King Sleaze's legal goons have done to Dawn Georgette Myers, what her life has been like?

And, despite her courage to really stand up to him, she, too, is the target for some.

I think the longest that has been reported to me by friends sucked into a TS presentation where a sale was not made was 3 hours. I'm not certain that it would even take 1/2 a day, even with the most intense pressure, to finish up presentation. I know I'd have been walking and anyone with a little common sense would have relized that the $100 prize for attending wasn't worth that much time.

I wonder who was more desperate, the salesman trying to make the sale or the poster who gutted it out fo "5 hours" for a timeshare gift.

My problem is I think there are probably aspects of this story that are true. I also think that there has been a little extra added to the story for sensationalism.
