  • Ok...we heard about the worst ts presentation gifts...are there any good ones?

If so, tell us newbies about them. What did you get? What ts offered it? Also, if you refuse once do they usually come back with a better offer? Let us hear your GOOD ts presentation stories...there are some, right?
    Thanks,
    Jill

The $100 pre-loaded Visa card I received at San Luis Bay Inn was a great gift. Going to a Sunterra presentation there was the only way I could get in to see a unit, which I'd been trying to do for years!

I was happy with a tour of Summer Bay one day in the pouring rain, and getting cash in leiu of the Disney tickets promised because they were out of tickets. Cash is always good.

We got two tickets to Busch Gardens from King's Creek in Williamsburg. They cost about $45 each.

Also we've gotten LOTS of almost-free weeks and three-day stays.

Disney Bucks. Same as cash at all Disney merchants. And, they give you cash back for change.

There are actually some real professional operations out there...

HGVC $125 gift card (plus some small gifts for the kids) to be used at the Hilton on the Big Island....always learning and interested in HGVC...just wish they had more locations besides FL and Vegas....low pressure and informative sales person but the manager was a prima donna.

Marriott 'Whysohigh' in Poipu Kauai toured two couples (my brother and wife) together each with the same gift $125 nice cash/gift card to be used at Marriott.... we always want to learn about the latest at their resorts....lots of nice locations....maybe one of these days but its got to be a resale....my brother owns Marriott purchased from the developer...so tour short, sweet, informative, and low pressure.

Grand Pacific Palisades in Carlsbad....already an owner and they insist we still go on the tour...ok...willing to do it for four two-day LegoLand passes, free beers at Karl Straus , and a free lunch plus a few other things I forget....all to speak to the manager who gave me a 10 minute personal update on the spot when we checked-in for our tour and saw we owned so many timeshares she didn't want to waste anyone's time with a tour....all with a smile and good attitude...she answered any question I posed.....if they insist again when we go again this summer....well.....

Best i ever received was $300 from the Mayan Palace Riviera Maya. I saw this on the Internet when I booked my airline tickets and they made it look like it was from a Maxican tourism group. When I presented the internet voucher at the Mayan Palace no one seemed to have seen it before from the sales staff but after a manager looked at it he OK'd our tour. When I refused to purchase thay got nasty as usual but I also had a copy of a written statement on the same voucher which said something like " by taking this presentation you will be treated with fairness and respect with no obligation to purchase a timeshare during the presentation" or something like that. I showed it to the closer when the got nasty and he said so you just came here for the $300 and I said of course dosen't everyone come just for the gift and out of the many that come for the gift you do sell to a high percentage.

They let me leave after that which took a little over 90 minutes including the free breakfast. When I got to the gift area they gave me $3,000 pesos instead of the $300 Us dollars but that was close enough and not worth arguing over. Based on the exchange rate at the time I think it really came to around $280.

The best gift we received was about 3 years ago at HGVC at SeaWorld.

We received a $75.00 or $100.00 gift card (I can't remember which) for Darden Restaurants. We were supposed to also receive a HGVC beach towel. Very nice, large and thick. When they gave it to us they said you can always use another one and gave us a second one.

                    No high pressure either.

We have recieved free dinners in Newport, some 2 for's and $40 in Harrahs chips in Las Vegas and $40 preloaded MasterCard in Flagstaff all from Fairfield for attending "Owner's Update" which is what they call the sales pitch to sell owners more points when you stay at a FF resort. They have always been relatively low key and not overly time consuming and I have usually learned something that I didn't know so have been worth the 90 minutes or so we spend at them.
We got buffet breakfast at Ritz Beach in Grand Bahama but also got a tour around the resort and got to see the other units so was ok there also. This was at resort we traded in to via RCI.

I enjoyed all three I took while on vaction in MB a couple of weeks ago. My fav was Bluegreen, they offered me a job and gave me 2 adult tix to "One" and a child's tic, plus 2 tix to Ripley's Aquarium. That was over $100 worth.

Went to the 2nd one which was at Sheraton Broadway (where I was staying) and got 2 tix to Carolina Opry

3rd one was South Beach and got $100 cash. That's where the good salesman was. He blew me away altho I didn't buy. shaggy

I like the day trips by boat to St. Barths or Saba that most of the t/s resorts on Sint Maarten give away.

For doing Vistana we got 2 adult tickets to SeaWorld. After being there all that time (90 minutes) I decided it wouldn't be worth it to do these in the future, although we had 2 weeks in Orlando so didn't really lose much in terms of time that trip.

Second and only time was at Pahio KEK/Kauai. When we checked in a rep told us about their "deals", but we didn't want to waste any time on Kauai. When they offered us BOGO for a Napili coast boat trip, we took the deal as that saved us considerable $$. (about $250 as near as i can remember )
I must add that I told her we had no intention of buying and she said that was FINE, they just needed to have people listen to the deal. When we got to the presentation, I told the salesman right away that we had no intention of buying.
The salesman was obnoxious (surprise) and kept asking me what it would take to get us to buy a unit. I kept answering that it would have to be "free", as in no money. After 7 minutes he said he didn't need to perfect his sales pitch on us and told us to leave. The kids (9+11) were angry as they hadn't eaten enough cookies yet.

Krystal NH in Cancun. Just did it last week. $150 USD (they gave me an 11:1 rate for $1650 pesos) + a Mexican blanket.

Feel sorry for anyone who bought there - old building, no balconies, poor mock-up for a two bedroom.

Nice beach and great location tho.
