This will be hard to believe but I sware it is really happening to me. I converted to points at Summer Bay Las Vegas in November 2008. If I make a reservation for my home resort for my assigned time period (November - January) 11 months or more in advance there is no RCI processing fee ($139). When I tried to make my reservation in December and January I was told by both RCI and Summer Bay that I couldn't do it because RCI had not processed the paperwork for my conversion to points, it takes 12 weeks to complete. After several inquiries finally Summer Bay called on February 5, 2009 to tell me that my new membership was complete. When I tried to make my reservation on February 5, 2009 for mid-November 2009 I was told that there would be a service charge of $139 because it was less that 11 months. It's going to cost me $139 because it took RCI so long to process my paperwok!!Needless to say I didn't make the reservation and have appealed to both Summer Bay and RCI to correct this unfair situation. So far no response. Any suggestions? I found this site while serching for infomation on what government agencies regulate timeshares.

I don't have much faith in RCI under these circumstances. Have you written/emailed RCI customer service? I would also call back and ask to speak with a supervisor if you haven't already done so. Also, if you want to use that week, I would make the reservation before it's no longer available...
