  • Rental Deal Gone Bad, Real Bad!

Has anyone had any dealings with Mr Bill Wright doing Business as Westgate Sales Group Inc. ? He replied to a Rental Wanted Ad I had over on TUG.
everything looked Legit and he was very familliar with the resort and the process. I let my guard down and paid the full Rental Upfront Via PayPal given the rental agreement and all dealings seemed above board. as soon as he had my funds things changed. lots of excuses. now he won't return my calls or emails. or my Money! if you have done business with him I'd like to know. if you haven't... I'd recomend you don't ! RT

NOTE I do not believe this person/company has anything to do with Westgate Resorts.

Hopefully you can dispute it with your credit card company or paypal (paypal does has some strange/funny rules on when they actually protect your if you have dispute).

From my experience as a seller on ebay that uses paypal daily, they usually side with the buyer so I'd put in a dispute claim with paypal and let them begin to investigate.

They will probably reverse the charges for you.

        Good luck.

I suspect you may be correct, He is very familliar with the timeshare Business, Might be a sales person/ex-sales person for Them or another company. and while his company name and email address etc. would suggest he was representing Westgate I do not believe he is, and my beef here is with Him and Not Westgate Resorts.

I do have a PayPal dispute filed as well as with My CC just not sure what recourse they may have? RT

The Paypal dispute process will work. If you paid for a rental week and they don't deliver it, you will win your dispute. That is unless the paypal account has been terminated. Then, you'll be screwed.

When is your rental week supposed to be? Has the time passed? Paypal gives you a deadline for filing a dispute so I'd get on it ASAP.

Have you tried calling the resort to see if they have listed you as the user of the time?

I've done a few rentals out of the exchange companies with owners and luckily I've been very fortunate to not have been screwed yet.

Found most of them on ebay and redweek and so far so good in case you need a place to find others. Of course you could always do RCI/II too.

                Good luck to you.

we got taken two years ago. The unit was put in our name and we called Bluegreen to verify , got the paperwork, then paid. Just before check in, Bluegreen cancelled the week. Turns out someone, and i am pretty sure it was a Bluegreen employee, was getting into peoples accounts and using their points to book weeks, renting them out, and keeping the money.

So did you lose your money?

What did the resort do to the person who was booking the reservations?

Did you follow up on it?

How did you pay for your reservation?

we did not get our money back.
we talked to someone way up in bluegreen, they did not compensate us. they said the points were booked illegally and they owed it to their owners to cancel the week.
the name given was false, the checking account was closed , the address was false, (it was a Walmart in Atlanta), the bank was in Tampa, the person was really from Indianapolis as far as anyone could tell. I found out two other peole who booked thru her, one got to use the time, the other was told it had been cancelled when she got to the resort, but they let her stay in an unbooked unit. We lost $800.

Where did you book this? Was it online? I guess I've just been lucky. I've done this a few times and even with Bluegreen resorts and also Wyndhams and so far I've been lucky. I even did a Royals resort in Cancun and that one I paid by check.

I posted on the bluegreen yahoo group that i needed weeks and a long time poster responded, someone who had posted frequently. She even used me as a reference for someone else. thank goodness my cousin didn't book the time too. this week was for the groom's family for a wedding.

Wow. I'm not too familiar with the Yahoo group but I did do the Yahoo personals once and had lots of scammers (Nigerian type) wanting to get me to accept money for them and do all kinds of weird stuff. I don't much trust anything on yahoo anymore. Too many scammers pray on free stuff.

I used Ebay and Redweek and luckily had no problems but maybe that is because you have to pay to use these services and there tends to be less fraud there.

I'm sure that if you used the posters here who advertise on this site that it wouldn't be a problem either.

Sorry to hear that you got scammed.

The yahoo group is nearly all Bluegreen owners. The closest you'll likely get to scammers there are people recommending Melaleuca or air cleaners or the like. Nothing to worry about unless people praising Avon unnerve you.
