    It has always been my understanding, subject to correction by any direct, first hand experience to the contrary, that Paypal in fact does not provide any protection whatsoever to the "buyer" in a "non-tangibles" transaction (and a rental is indeed just such a a "non-tangibles" transaction).

      Theo, honestly I'm not sure about tangible or intangible since I only deal in jewelry which is obviously tangible.

        Surely, it's easy enough for PayPal to assess and decide in instances where there is a physical object involved, such as a guitar, a piece of jewelry or a clock. However, methinks Paypal understandably wants no part of assessment or mediation decisions where there is no physical object. I can't honestly say I fault them for that, actually, since such situations can often be just a fragmented collection of hearsay and /or other undocumented (and ill-remembered) verbal communications.
