  • Do you know what you're house is worth?

Someone sent me this link and it was quite interesting. It covers most of the country and is fairly accurate with the information. My 2004 house taxes are in there and they were accurate.

Well it is off by about 3 to $400,000 in my area. My house is worth at least $350,000 more than what came up.

I believe this just gives the Avg price in the area.

Frank, its off by quite a bit for us, too. This area has had a sharp increase in past few years, I don't think that's reflected on the site.

I checked our house and it's not complete. They only show us with one quarter acre lot, and we own the lot next to it, which would make the whole parcel worth a lot more. Plus the fact it's lake front property. But, we still have doubled our money in 4 years. From what the property appraisers website shows, all the homes in our area that have sold, have sold for more than what Zillow shows.

Yeah, it is obviously off in the New York area. My house just came up about $200.000 less than the comparable homes in my neighborhood have recently sold for.

It is a nice site though, maybe it will be updated more regularly as it grows.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

this site gives you the assessed values from the counties tax rolls at least that's how it works in Long Island. What it is good for is you can check for comparable assessments for real estate taxes in your area.

The amounts do agree with whatever the latest tax assessment was listed at, which could current or can be be a year old depending on when your assessment was last made.

Ours info does not include the remodel we did

We remodeled in 2004 with more square feet, etc. The satalite picture is out of date. I can see it is preremodel. The value might be closer as a preremodel value.

The value is definately not assessed value as we bought several years ago and our assessed value is very low.

Actually, the assessed values are about two years old...

I had heard about this site but could not remember the name....thanks so much for posting it.

It is off in our neighborhood too but it is interesting.

                      Cool site!

It is pretty much on the money for our property in it's current condition. Even shows the accurate sale price for the house next door which closed a month ago at $540k. That house is a much smaller ranch.

This is why I forced DH to go ahead with the fix-up of our home. It will reflect it's true value again once we are done.

                      Thanks for posting this!

I hope to keep the assessed value low on my new place. I'm in throes of moving now...there are homes worth half mil walking distance. Mine will be worth that when I'm done with it. But shhh, don't tell the taxman.

U got that right.......If we were to move to a house of a similar price as ours our property tax would quadruple.....no point in moving.....just remodel/refurbish as needed. Thanks to buying at the bottom and to CA prop 13 our property tax w/ mello roos is only over $5k.

My house is pretty close.. but a house I'm looking to buy is way off.

Its on a lake and it's valued the same as the non lakefront homes in the area.

Plug in your timeshare address to check out what they are worth folks....interesting

Isn't this right next door Calidave????

Check out the Inn at Silver Lakes, 14818 Clubhouse Drive, Helendale CA 92342

Those places are worth some bucks.....why don't they just convert and sell em...maybe if we buy majority shares (or have people give them to us to get out from under the maint fees) then we could all vote to convert and to sell them.......this is a job for Boca.
