Any suggestions for free or inexpensive rental sites?
Thanks

We use VRBO.com and Homeaway.com--they cost more than some of the others, but they also get the traffic to justify it. I used to keep track of the hits from the "also rans" and they didn't amount to much compared to VRBO and Homeaway.

My experience with vacationtimesharerentals has been pretty good. Many of mine though have been through Kijiji (similar to craigslist but through ebay and more professional).
VRBO and HomeAway have been good for whole ownership inventory, since you can generate multiple transactions- but are too expensive in my view for single week timeshare rental.
MyResortNetwork and RedWeek have both been good for me, but like everything else they seem to have really declined in traffic this past year.
Vacationtimesharerentals has generated two or three inquiries but no recent deals for me. Plus I HATE the ridiculously lengthy process of posting a free ad on that site..
Bidshares and Backpage continue to be a complete waste of time in my opinion.
Craigslist is the internet equivalent of a petri dish cultivating con artists. Since I deal with an escrow account (and the subsequent laws regarding timely deposits) posting ads there became very expensive due to bad check charges. One week I actually received four counterfeit cashier's checks (all made out for twice the rental price). Be very careful if you decide to post in that venues..
eBay has been ineffective for me for years. I no longer use it at all since my cost exceeded the benefits.
I like Kijiji, but I can never spell it correctly! The ads look great, but I haven't gotten any responses from there (although I did manage to sell a large birdcage from that site!)..
I'm a partner with the free classifed site http://cleartimeshares.com. Traffic is growing consistently, but it is still a very young website.
Tug is there, but another venue that just hasn't been very effective for me.
Timeshareforums.com is the best! Like everything else inquiries are slow- but I like to play "virtual slots" by refreshing the page until my ads show on all five spaces. Childish I know, but still fun..
My bad. Don't know why that is here. If it goes away, that would be nice.

fur shur, but not a good reason to not use it altogether
Sorting the bad from the good is pretty easy, normally just by the wording of the reply.
If I did not do cl, I would not have found some good repeat renters. It's a free way to get a feel for the rentability of a week. If it did not work, there would not be so many vacational rental ads. Check out Orlando or Branson, any area of S. Florida, Hawaii, Socal . . . .
Maybe someone has mentioned it, but forums specific to a vacation area, such as the "Branson forum" are good sites, too, although overwhelmingly anti-timeshare, like the general public.

No, but I wasn't renting just a week of timeshare, so that would make a difference in perception; I was renting a vacation apartment year round.
Thanks for answering something I had deleted, or as close as I could.
As I said, I have no idea why that got posted here. Musta been a halloween goblin.
Oh, I see why now. I was commenting on your tagline, not your post, figuring only someone who considered themselves to be wealthy to have that tagline. There is a reason why I ask, but that is fodder for the political bantering forum.

Hi all. I'm new to the whole timeshare thing and I was wondering if anyone had any good sites to try and rent out a timeshare that I own. I have a Holiday Inn Club Vacations timeshare where I actually get points instead of weeks. I can get cheap weeks at the various Holiday Inn resorts or just use the points. Does anyone else have something similar that they rent out to people to help pay for the maintenance fees? The only safe way I know is to rent to people I know personally but is there a way to use a service or something because everyone wants it for free.

Have you tried Redweek.com?

Take a look at Craigslist/Orlando, and get a feeling for how many Orange Lakes are being rented out, and for how much. For years it has been hard to rent anything there for an annual fee.
I can't get as much as my annual fee for a very-nice 2-bedroom in Branson.
There is a plethora of owners who are stuck with their timeshares, not using them, and trying to get whatever they can to limit their loss.
I should mention that among the general public there is a stigma about timeshares such that many folks will not rent them for any price, and will stay in a motel room for more $$$.
