So true, this is exactly why I don't want to get involved because nobody trusts a beginner so not me. It is fun to watch but I would rather deal with a broker and let them do the negotiating for me. JMHO.

I was the one who won the auction. Frank, I'm not sure your suggestions will work because Bill probably had the right of it in that this person may not care. It seems that the person was trying to sell it for his elderly parents. The problem is that they bought it from the developer a number of years ago and have it stuck in their head that it's worth X amout of dollars, not necessarily what the resale value is.

I've made some comments that Ebay uses in their wording about a legal transaction and about non-performing sellers, etc. I've offered to pay for transfer costs and escrow costs. So we'll see how it goes.

Start by being a buyer. You then build up positive feedback showing that you are a reliable eBayer, and you can then transition to selling.

I make it a point to either sells something or win an auction at least twice per year. That builds up feedback. When people view my history they can see that although I'm not active, I've been involved for quite a few years (i.e., I'm not someone who just joined and is jumping into a lot of auctions to build feedback quickly).

I also use my eBay feedback for business I might conduct off the web, particularly timeshare rentals. I point renters to my eBay feedback as a way of assuring them that I am reputable and reliable.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

        “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Well, I've officially made a report to Ebay of seller non-performance. The seller had replied two days after the auction ended to say his parents wouldn't sell at the auction price. I made a couple comments about "contractual obligations" and gave them until the end of the week to respond (6 days). I did say that if there were no response, I would contact ebay.

We'll see what happens but am not overall optimistic.

That's too bad..... Maybe he will have a change of heart, and do the right thing....I some how doubt it though, sounds like this guy was a jerk, right from the beginning.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

With a zero rating, not being happy with the sales price, but not having a reserve price. Sounds like this person was in way over their head.

I realized that I hadn't posted to update what happened - which was nothing Ebay came back to say they are only an intermediary and can't enforce anything so if you still want the item, contact the seller (ie. go back and see if they'll sell it at a higher price than what you won the auction at)

As others have commented in other threads, Ebay's pretty useless about disputes!
