  • In Some Things, The Truth Pretty Much Works

Yesterday there was a single in front of us on the golf course, and he was waiting for the group in front of him a lot. So, he joined our group of three.

We did intros and he had the same name as me and is from where we were from before we moved here.

During our conversation, he mentioned that he belonged to another local country club/golf course for 20 years. I said I'm a member there, too.

Awhile later, I asked him if he had a house or condo there, or if he owned one The Villas (original timeshares that "come with year-round golf)?

He said, "The Villas, up the hill from the clubhouse, not the crap they put up later."

    I said, "We do, too."

He said, "I bought it before the golf course was built."

    I said, "'92, early '93."

He said, "Yup. . . . . I had to pay someone to get rid of it. Whoever came up with that perpituity thing sure screwed them up." Then he mumbled something about Disney.

I let that lay there a few holes and then asked, "How long ago did you get rid of your Villa?"

    He said, "Maybe 18 months."

I said, "OK. I thought maybe we own yours, since we got ours from those people you pay to get rid of them."

Then I said, "You are me. I am you."

Unrelated, I have been trying repeatedly to get someone from that resort's management to contact me since the website where I pay our annual fees had stopped working, without notice, last December, and I had to find out myself that Escapes! had gone kaput.

Yesterday someone finally responded, but not with any information. Just replied to an email, saying they had received it.

Funny you should ask, because my neigbors seem to have a problem with their neighbor.

And I thought the story was going to have a happy ending like the golf guy loved the TS and wanted to buy yours too or you found out how he got rid of his and was able to get rid of yours.

Well no. But up until half way through the story I had a little hope. But then again whenever my 7 yo son puts a tooth under his pillow, I always hope the tooth fairy will take it and leave money so I won't have to.
