As for SBV, you can see that it is not just my problem:

For that matter, the GM at SilverCreek, and the Board Pres have both told me it is not just my problem. Many want to give them away and no one is taking them.
It is not just my problem, it is every owner's problem.

Lots of free stuff out there, You may have to offer an incentive, like Maintenance fees paid a year or two ahead, or a cash payment to the buyer.
If it was me, after all that
hard work, Id approach the board to let them know I wont be paying any more, They can take it back the easy way....and just accept the transfer,or do it the hard way...foreclosure.

Thank you for your email. I am sorry but we do not advertise timeshares for individuals. For individuals that don't want their timeshares any longer, there are two choices. You can try to sell it on eBay, but keep in mind that only the better ones (newer ones with a name brand like Marriott or Hilton) actually sell for anything more than $1. The rest (the vast majority) either don't sell at all or sell for just one dollar (sometimes only one penny), which means you are really giving it away. And don't forget, if yours sells for $1, you still have to pay a closing company to do the legal transfer of ownership, plus the advertising fee you pay to eBay, which means that it costs you several hundred dollars to 'sell' your timeshare. There are plenty of companies out there that will 'take' your timeshare from you, but you'll be paying a fee. Some are as high as $5,000. If you are serious about disposing of yours but have found it impossible to sell, I recommend a company called The Timeshare Company. They are by far the cheapest around.
Thank you and Best regards,
Alex

Well, there you go Tony. Still an opening to list individual's freebies, and FreeTimeshare.com may still be available.

Funny how most of us just accepted what was fed us TSing-wise, from the initial schpiel of them being "real estate", something you can do with as you wish, and increasing in value, to something you have to pay someone to take from you, and then pay the resort an exit fee.
People are so much like lemmings.
If increasing numbers are just walking away, or causing excessive bad debt fees, well, duh! They are taking what they see to be the best available option, with the "legitimate" industry offering none.
Just to say it, how does those of you here who choose to give me a ration of $#!+ for being honest about this problem, like our Board member from Fine Kettle did, how does that help, and who is that will be hurt most from owners walking away?Last edited by JLB; 08-05-2014, 10:53 AM.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

Other owners are who will be hurt by those walking away. Resorts need to market resales and have a deed back program in order to keep the maximum amount of fees coming in. If not, the resorts will find free falling receipts and a need for special assessments, which will just increase the problem as more walk away.
